I just remembered the name of the vaccine children are given in other countries around the world. Its the BCG vaccine.  There is a special test a person can get that shows if the person is reacting to the BCG they may have gotten as a child or if they have actually been exposed to a person with active TB.

Unless your chest xray shows active TB you do NOT  have to worry.  The Dr will SUGGEST that you go on the nine month regimen of medicine.  There are millions of people , mostly from other countries, who have come into contact with TB but are not active, and when they get a TB tine test, it can show a false positive and therefore, you need the chest xray to confirm.  For some reason a TB vaccine of some kind is given to children in foreign countries and the reaction to the tine test Positive(red and raised) here in the US is really just a reaction to that vaccine. Like I said, if your Dr said you have ACTIVE TB then you DO need to worry!  You better clarify this with your Dr and right away.

This is a question for your doctor. Turberculosis is contagious and you should be hospitalized and treated, infact quarantined. Do not breath anywhere near her, but I'm surprised that the doctor did not quarantined you put you in the hospital isolation, for treatment. TB is airborne dangerous virus and can cause a full blown epidemic!  Please do not have sex or kiss her until you speak with your physician.

TB is not a virus. It is a bacteria. You cannot catch TB by having sexual intercourse, at least that what is stated on the internet.

TB is very contagious.  It's spread when people breath out the bacteria to another person and people are indeed kept away from others when they have it. Dangerous and person to person is how it is spread.

Did you get a chest xray?  Did you react to the TB tine test that shows red and positive on your arm?  Did your Dr say your TB is active?  I have a daughter-in-law from the Phillipines who married my son here last yr. and because her TB tine test showed positive, she is now undergoing 9 months of medication.  But because she is not active she cannot infect my son. At least that's what the Dr told us.
