Oh, and btw - male sperm and female sperm refer to the sperm used to fertilize the egg. The egg is an X, and a man's sperm are either Y (male) or X (female). The X sperm that creates a female fetus are slower but much longer lived, and can endure ph hardships that male (Y) sperm can't.
I've been thinking about this question a lot today. Boy fetuses are conceived at a higher rate than female fetuses - but by birth the ratio is 50/50, and by the age of 5 girls outnumber boys. Nearly every genetic disorder hits male children harder than female children.
Male mammals in the wild tend to burn out much more quickly than female mammals - maybe due to the fact that they are trying to hard to mate.
It is an interesting question - women used to be at terrible risk for dying in childbirth - but if a woman can make it through that truly dangerous experience, she will likely outlive men.
Men, of course, have historically died at much greater numbers than women in wartime. So you have to factor in that non-health related risk of fatality.
Interesting question, Life, although I think you have drawn the wrong conclusions about stress. I've read studies that show that long-time married men are the most happy, and long-time married women are the least happy.
I guess you have to have a mind for analogies to understand them. I find the analogy good. RR even stated "I think we're all like sperm" before she proceeded with the rest of her analogy.
Not sure where you are getting wives or women just "pour" all their stress on their husbands or bfs.
It is more biological/genetic based in combination with lifestyle. If you aren't taking care of yourself combined with crappy genetics and/or environmental factors=premature death.
There is stress in everyone's life. How you choose to deal with it, e.g. bottling it up or finding an outlet for it, that's up to YOU regardless whether you are a man or woman.
I am a nurse and to be honest I have seen an equal amount of women and men dying prematurely these days; just as many wives dying before their husbands and visa versa.
I don't think she's saying women have sperm, she's talking about female sperm being slower yet stronger than male sperm. Female sperm lives longer. Her analogy is interesting for sure! Would agree.
I don't think it is 'wives' living longer than 'husband's'. Women live longer than men. It's biological most likely.
I wasnot aware that women have sperm!!!!
I think we're all like sperm.
Male sperm swim faster and stronger, and die sooner.
Female sperm swim more slowly, and live a lot longer.
I really think men's body waste too much energy on being strong and fast, and too little energy on being long-lived.
