Costochondritis - chest pain

Hi, I was diagnosed with Costochondtitis yesterday.
The past 1-2 years I was experiencing sharp stabbing pains to the right of my left breast, only once every 3 months or so. Until recently its been getting worse, more regular and mcuh more painful. The pain in that area has now gone (as it usually does and then comes back in a few weeks/months) but im now suffering from this chest infection like pain around my front and back and chest area. Got the all clear from my GP. Is this normal? Id love to hear from people who experience or have experienced the same and how they deal with it? Its brining me down!
