Coughing up blood.

Ive been sick for about a week and a half. I had cold like symptoms. Slight headaches, cough, sore throat and TONS of phlegm. i seem to be getting way better, But this morning i woke up and started coughing up phlegm, I noticed as i spit a small amount of phlegm out i saw some blood. Is this anything i should be concerned about. Or is this pretty much normal?

It probably is from irritation from coughing and or sore throat. It usually mixes with the phlegm in streaks and isn't pure blood. Pure blood is a different story though, this would require some investigation as to what is causing it.
It should get better but if it doesn't ,it wouldn't hurt to run it by the doctor.
I hope this helps...Sunny
