Importance of food allergy testing

by robert561, Sep 16, 2009 07:28AM
I had food allergy testing (Prime Test)  and it SAVED my sinuses - get this test if you have allergies/asthma/sinusitis.  Certain foods are triggers for these symptoms and you can find relief from staying away from these foods.  There is a doctor's post on here that called food allergy testing "unnecessary".  I can't believe it!!  I had 3 Polyectomies and was sick every day of my life until I found out which foods to stay away from.  As long as I stay away from these foods my sinuses are totally clear and have been clear for over a decade!

I wanted to come on here and share my experience - please get food allergy testing so that you can lead a healthy life free of these dangerous medications.  Instead of just treating your allergies with medicine that is bad for you, find out what they are!

Yes, I have to agree with you there. Even low grade allergies can make the body uncomfortable, especially with foods that are consumed on a daily basis. I figured this out just this last year from a doctor who suggested I cut it out from my diet. When I tried to incorporate the milk back in I noticed that I even get more asthma symptoms (have asthma for years), diarrhea, and skin reactions. All of which I chalked up to lactose intolerance and just weird itchy skin. My bowel habits have also completely changed since eliminating the allergen from my diet.

Fifteen years ago I even had a diagnosis of "the starts of an inflammatory bowel disease". Had a colonoscopy at the time for bowel bleeding and diarrhea. But my bowels healed up and do every now and again remind me that my gut is not happy.

I was told that many doctors don't think food allergy is a problem unless it is quite severe or anaphylactic, so it is not taken seriously.
