Lung Spots
My girlfriend's doctor saw spots on her lungs durung a cat scan that were not there two years ago(another cat scan). She's going in next week for a biopsy. She's got pneumonia now and has had it three times in her adult life. She had a hacking cough and sinus uinfections recently. and she's asthmatic. She's 49 years old in seemingly good health. She does not smoke. She live in St Louis. Any ideas?

This discussion is related to could it be lung cancer.

Hi, it is very difficult to say just on the basis of some spots. it could be anything mediastinal lymphadenitis, fibrosis, lung cancer, sarcoidosis etc.

What is more important is location of spots and the kind of symptoms she is showing up. Best way is to take the biopsy of pathological lesion and look under microscope to pin point the diagnosis.

Most probably she might be having fibrotic lesions in lungs due to repeated attacks of pneumonia.
