Lung cancer

by Jed91, Jun 29, 2008 10:52AM
I saw Ann's post about her dad.  My dad has the same condition. His kidneys are 25% functioning.  He has diabetes.  His right lung has large cell cancer.  He has emphysema as well.  What kind of test do we determine how much percent of lungs are functioning? Also, a second opinion from another doctor recommends removing the tumor (or one lung). Is it a good idea to do so, or is it too risky to undergo removal of one lung? He's over 65 yrs old.  He's undergoing chemotherapy right now.  Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. -Jed
