Please Help Me

My 32 yr old sister was just diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia but they are very concerned about the findings of severe crystals in her lungs. What could cause this?

This discussion is related to crystals on lungs.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Crystals in the lung cavities can occur with Pulmonary aspergillosis, which is a fungal infection of the lungs. They are also found in sarcoidosis, asbestosis and in patients undergoing hemodialysis and in people with a history of injection drug use. Therapy depends on the cause. Please discuss the options with your consulting doctor.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
