Respiratory Disease? Not sure..

Hello, I have a boyfriend, 15 years old, who has been pretty sick for a while now. He has been sick for about three days now since today, and has experienced a number of symptoms. He has had dizziness, blurred vision, a badly swollen throat, less stamina than usual, headache, and a very sharp chest pain whenever he breathes in, that keeps worsening in pain. Today he went to the doctor and he did not have a fever, 97.9. They told him he could have an upper respiratory disease that is usually passed on from family. He last threw up two days ago, but after he came home from the doctor, shortly after, he threw up again and told me there was a bit of blood in it. I'm not sure what this could mean and I know he is going back to the doctor tomorrow, but.. any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
