Should I be concerned?

by Corkel, Dec 06, 2008 08:20AM
I have been treated for the last 2 months for a DVT in my lower right leg.  I am currently taking warfarin and my INR's are at an acceptable level (2.9 last check).  This morning I woke up to a sharp pain in my upper back when I would take a deep breath.  It's pretty significant pain when I take a deep breath so I'm trying NOT to do that.  The pain is not really in my chest so I haven't been too concerned about an embolism but I've also got a lot of blood in the mucus when I blow my nose this morning.  The only thing I've done that I can think that would have caused the pain in my back was use the ski poles on my treadmill a couple of days ago.

I REALLY can't afford to go to the ER unless there is a real threat of serious illness.  I have private health insurance but I've spent a fortune on copays and my 20% this year from a broken ankle, surgery for that, then 5 days in there for the blood clot that formed.  I just hate to go and it be a muscle pain from the exercise.

I appreciate your thoughts on this.
