Straining to complete yawn, yawning all day, feel i just need a deep breath.

I have had this problem for a long time, but in the last year it has gotten worse and I cant stand it.  I regularly go through periods where I feel the need to yawn or get a deep breath and I just cant. I try and try over and over to yawn (causing me to get head aches), and finally accomplish it just to need  to yawn again. I am a sleepy person all the time,  but  the  straining  to yawn thing  makes me  crazy! I also have increasingly bad short term memory problems (at only 25), could this be connected to the yawning, and lack of oxygen to the  brain? could I  have asthma?  thank you so much for any help you can give me.

I'm at the edge of crying as i am reading your post guys..I thought  i'am going crazy because some of the countless doctors that i visited always gives me the look of "Are you making this up"..I've been suffering for this wanting to breath-in more oxygen for 4months now.. and as a remedy i have to yawn like every 3 mins or so.. Once i was even asked by my boss during a meeting if i bored at the way he presents our project..because of my excessive yawning.

- I had 2D Echo, ECG, Stress Test, Name-it-you-like test and nothin comes up. However i noticed on this forum the following observation which
im experiencing myself.

Anemia- I have a low red-blood count.
It doesnt attack when i'm extremely busy and not concious with it.
and excessive force-yourself-to-yawn.

i'm taking medication(Iron supplement)
and try to drink more water and probably try breathing technique..

I have the same exact problem. I am 22 years old and just quit smoking 4 months ago after smoking for 8 years. So I thought it was from smoking, which is why I quit. But I am still experiencing this. It keeps me awake at night. I am constantly trying to get that "one breath" as you described it. I sigh a lot and yawn a lot as well in an attempt to feel a satisfying breath. If anyone knows what this is please help. I had a chest x ray which came back normal. Also, my oxygen level is normal too. So what is this? And how can we make it stop? Anyone??
