Throat, Tongue & Tonsillitis

by mjc_basset, Aug 10, 2007 01:20PM
I've been suffering from tonsillitis for a while now and I get the feeling of something being stuck in my throat. At first I thought it was just because my tonsils have gone huge. But my tonsils have been huge for a while now (since my first tonsilitis attack) and the throat thing comes and goes. In recent days the feeling of having somthing stuck in my throat has become more persistent and I can feel it a lot all the time - it's really uncomfortable and it's like a choking feeling. It's possible it's something right at the back of the tongue or it could be something behind the tonsils in the upper part of the throat. I've just started researching it online and I'm starting to worry it might be throat cancer. I'm planning on having my tonsils removed as I believe all my problems are related to the tonsilitis - I was in tip-top health before I got tonsilitis last year (I'm 25 now). It's really distressing as the neither of my doctors seem to take me seriously when I tell them there's something stuck in my throat. Do you know what the 'stuck in the throat' feeling might be? Could it be cancer? Or an infection? I just had a course of antibiotics 2 weeks ago... The doctor gave me some fungilin lozenges for oral thrush on the back of my tongue but the course is nearly finished and my tongue doesn't look any healthier. Surely all these symptoms are connected? Any advice would be much appreciated - I do drink a lot of water during the day to keep the throat from drying out and I tried taking ibuprofen to make any swelling in the throat go down but it hasn't worked.
