Weird throat pain

I'm a 29 year old male and I started smoking when I was 15.  About a year and a half ago I quit smoking due to throat pain and my lungs would hurt every morning I woked up.  It took about 6 m onths for the pain in my throat and lungs to go away.  I did have a chest ct scan, but never checked the throat pain.  After 6 months I stated smoking again very seldom, like once every 1-2 months.  And every time my throat pain will come back.  Its not like a sick sore throat, but like something is stuck in my throat and I feel the need to clear my throat alot.  I'm not hoarse and have no cough, but I fear cancer and keep thinking that I have it and its spreading.  Given the fact that it did go away when I didnt smoke at all for six months, I tell my self it will again and dont go to the DR.  But now it starting to hurt while talk.  Still no hoarseness or cough.  I have made an appointment with my doc this week and I'm fraked out abouyt dyinbg from cancer. I have quit smaoking all together and my wife is having another child.  I cant bare the idea of having cancer now! Any thoughts would help thanks.

Have you seen your dr? If so, how did it go? If you haven't already, you may want to see an ears, nose, and throat dr. to check your larynx, smoking may be irritating it..........hope this helps and congratulations on your new little one..........oh, prayer helps a lot!!!!........:-)
