Hello and hope you are doing well.

The COPD and pneumonia could have compromised the lung function. Further superadded infection has resulted in a pneumonia. Have a culture and sensitivity test done to find out the correct antibiotic that the infecting organism is sensitive to and taking this medication for the required amount of days may help to clear infection. In the meantime try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions.

Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

When was the last CT scan you had of your lungs? Do you have scarring of the lungs?

Follow this alternate breathing technique to build up the lung function and improve the oxygen level. Try to do 5 minutes, several times a day,for one week, and then try to increase the timing.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.

Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
