post Aeneasthetic pulmonary oedema

by ehaceh, Sep 07, 2009 03:04PM
I went into hospital for shoulder surgery late May. Whilst in recovery stats dropped and red frothy sputum was coming from mouth. I was given diuretic and catheterised. I was returned to orthoepedic ward and put on 10 min observations. I was given blood thinning agent and intrevnous antibiotics remained on oxygen for 4 days. I coughed up thick blood stained phlegm which gradually became clear phlegm with streaks of red blood.I was discharged after six days and told an appointment to see a cardiologist was being made including echocardiagram.2days after discharge i had raised temp and cough and visited out of hours unit and was given cours of 2 seperate antibiotics. The cadiologist told me my heart stopped this was 3 months ater surgery. He has also told me i suffered a possible heart attack.I am now awaiting appointment for angiogram and my GP is monitoring me closely plus medications which were started 14 weeks after operation Aspirin Remipril Simvastatin.I was told by the sister on the ward that this has happened before and that the staff are terrified but as yet neither my GP nor myself have received an explanation. My GP is convinced i have not received care I was entitled to and there is suspicion of a cover up. Other nursing staff told me they didn't think I was going to make it which contradicts what I have been told by the doctors who carried out the operation.
