4 Negative chlamydia test with symptoms, girlfriend tested positive twice

Alright buckle up for this one. I've seen 5 doctors.

25 year old male

In September I felt pain when urinating and tenderness in my testicles after fully protected sex with a new partner. I swab tested negative for chlamydia and gonnohrea, but was treated with antibiotics for 10 days (norfloxacin I think?) and my partner treated simultaneously. Afterwards we were tested negative and went back to having sex, with the occasional unprotected.

My symptoms returned in the form of tenderness in the testicles and the odd flare up of dull pain. I saw another doctor, got another negative urine test but regardless was treated with a 10 day antibiotic variation. The pain subsided, but ultimately didn't disappear.

I also have had an ultrasound which came back clear for testicular cancer.

February I'm feeling pain again. This is all with the same partner who we have not had sex with anyone else. I trust her on this point. Blood tests come back clear.

Girlfriend tests positive for chlamydia again, suggesting that we somehow did not clear it the first time. I take another urine test that again comes back negative. Regardless, I'm right now on day 15 of a 21 day doxycycline regiment with some months away appointment with a urologist. Oh and I still feel (less admittedly) pain in my teticles in the epidydimis region.

How could I have tested negative all of those times?

Why can't I get this pain to go away?

What else could it possibly be?

Ok, lets see if I can shed some light.  A false negative for chlamydia can be because you tested too early.  Most results are accurate at two weeks after contact, but can take up to six weeks.  Generally, testing at two weeks after contact should be ok.  The other thing is if you were tested by a urine test and urinated too soon.  It's best to not urinate for 2 hours before you have the test.  So if you urinated, and then did again 30 minutes later for the test, it could be negative.  The other possibity is that you do not have it and it is something else.  What that could be, Im not sure.
