Chlamydia and the Prostate

This question is with reference to chlamydia reaching your prostate.

23 days ago I was correctly diagnosed of chlamydia based on symptoms, and this was later confirmed by discharge and urine tests (ghon. and trich. were negative).  I was given 4x 250 mg of Co-Azithromycin (and 400 mg of Suprax for the possibility of gonorrhea).  The primary symptoms of chlamydia disappeared by the 7th day or so.

The diagnosis was about 1.5 months after exposure, and in heinsight I started seeing symptoms about three or four weeks after exposure.

Roughly 14 days after taking the meds, something kind of new became apparent.  It was further up my urethra, pretty close (or at) the highest you can reach along your shaft between your anus and testes.  It felt like I was holding a drop of urine up there, but it wouldn't move.  So, it was kind of a gentle sting.  The feeling may have been present earlier as well, but I don't recall it.  There was never a bladder irritation.  As time went on, around day 18, it got worse and more obvious, so I went back to the doctor.  They told me it was probably just incompletely treated chlamydia, and gave me more of the same meds (minus that for gonorrhea).

The weird part is, that I feel a similar sensation just inside my bum, facing my inards.  This concerns me greatly.  The prostate is the only thing I can think of that intersects the colon and urethra.  So, finally, my questions:

How long would it take for chlamydia to enter the prostate?  Is 1.5 months enough time?
What would that feel like (I have no further symptoms)?
Would my prostate actually 'tingle'?
How common is chlamydial prostititus?
If chlamydia is in there, is it sexually contageous?  Am I forever poisonous?  Can I have kids?
What else could this sensation be?  I'm thinking maybe its just upper urethra.

Good Lord I'm worried.

I'm posting this for the potential readers with similar issues.

I'm not totally in the clear yet, but compared to the worst conditions I was in, I'm pretty much cured.  Another week should do it.

Do not drink tons of cranberry juice.  I was downing 6 or more glasses a day, of the 100% pure stuff diluted to about 1 part juice and 5 parts water.  Again, do not do this.  Whatever the mystery benefits of cranberry juice are, they're not worth the damage done by its acidity levels.  My urethra was recovering from an infection, and the repetitive passing of acidic urine must have acted as a severe agitant.  I started drinking cranberry juice 5 days after my second dose of antibiotics.  Two weeks after the second dose, my penis still stung, even when not urinating.  This quickly went away when I stopped drinking cranberry juice, and other symptoms have been gradually improving since then.  I hope to be feeling normal in a week.  At that point, I'm going to continue my low acid and minimal diuretic diet for a month.  That means no cranberry or citrus juice, no alcohol and no coffee.  All of those things have had noticeable effects.

My doctor recommended drinking enough water so that your urine is pretty much clear.  This diluted urine is as neutral as it gets, and improves recovery times.  Just drink water!

Try leaving it alone for a few days, and see what happens.

I know it sounds simplistic, but you need to find out if its from all your handling, or if something is really happening in there.

Also, just drink normal amounts of water - no need to go overboard.

Yes, I've had a prostate exam and they said it wasn't enlarged.  Nor was it a physically painful experience.

I think you need to leave things alone for awhile.  Continue the water, but stop the milking thing.  Your body will do its thing and release all the urine.  If you are continuing to milk, you might just be irritating it more.

Have you had a prostate exam yet?

If you have no white blood cells, you don't have urethritis.

Ok.  So I'm not in the clear yet.  I don't think this has anything to do with my prostate any more though.  That conclusion came after a couple conversations with numerous medical professionals.  The second dose of meds has so far ended that 'gentle sting' I was talking about up around my prostate at the top of my urethra.

I think after the first course of antibiotics, me just sitting around (writing conference papers, in my defence) after not emptying my urethra completely of urine led to a lower urinary infection, aka urethritis.  This was allowed since my urinary tract was devoid of natural bacteria.  The second dose of meds took care of it, since it was bacterial too (this is my current theory).  The gentle sting has been gone for a couple days now.  But the head of my penis is still soar.  It doesn't sting, and doesn't burn when urinating.  It feels like after a couple nights of rough sex.  "Soar" really is the word.

My question: I've been drinking a TON of water and even more cranberry juice to help my poor urethra.  I'm not circumsized and ensure that I'm dry after urinating by 'milking' and with a square of toilet paper.  This requires handling myself after every trip to the washroom.  What do you think about my soar penile head being the result of so much urination and handling?  I went to an STD clinic for an optical swab test, and they didn't see anything.  No chlamydia, no ghonorrea, no signs of NGO and no white blood cells.  I'd urinated not much more than an hour previous though.

And its really helpful to those of us responding if you can keep all your questions in one thread so we can have the history right in front of us.

It could be your prostate, there is no timeline for how long it takes to go into your prostate, and I think you need to follow up with your doctor.

I also forgot to mention that the tingly feeling I described is nearly gone now, although I still feel it slightly, more-so in my bum.  I'm sitting a LOT writing a paper for a conference in less than a week.  That may contribute, but hasn't changed since my second dose of meds, so the reduced feeling is likely not a result of changed daily patterns.

I forgot to mention that my urethra is also sparatically tingly, and a couple times 'itchy'.  Things could just be healing, or, assuming chlamyida has been cleared up, I could have some other infection.  Or it could be nothing, I mean I am pretty stressed out.  I haven't masturbated or had sex in two days, so it should not be general urethral aggitation.  I am also drinking lots (though less yesterday and today), and urinating normally.
