Could I be at risk?

I've been with my boyfriend for 9 years, and he's the only person I've been with. We have a long distance relationship right now only seeing each other every couple of months so as you can imagine we do become intimate when we are able to see each other. Well, he just told me one of his family members has a visible oral herpes outbreak. He was vacationing with this person about 5-6 months back and he said there's a good chance they shared a drink. Maybe we are both just freaking out? I read somewhere it takes 3 weeks to 6 months for an outbreak to be visible if you caught HSV-1. I have seen my boyfriend since his vacation. I was wondering what are the chances that maybe he possibily contracted it? I know you don't even have to be intimate to contract HSV-1. And no, he is not lying he sadly was able to send me a picture of the family members face where it visibly shows them.

Hi adults cant get oral herpes from sharing drinks. Young children are most suseptable as their immune systems are not yet developed. Even for adults to get oral herpes there needs to be hard rubbing lip contact to force the virus into the nerve esp if theres a obvious lip scab at the time.
