Red spots

I have been dating a girl for 6 months and I am her first sexual partner and we started to have unprotected sex about one month ago. Last weekend she came to visit me, we had sex on Thursday and Friday. On Sunday morning just after we woke up she gave me oral sex and when she was done she noticed she had a cold sore we became very scared. Both of us have had cold sores since our childhood. On Monday after masturbating I noticed tiny red spots on the glans of my penis, they did not itch, or hurt and there was no blisters I did feel my penis was a bit irritated but i wrote everything off as  irritation caused by friction from sex. On Tuesday the dots persisted and I began to fear an infection with the herpes virus so I started reading up on the disease. I came across different causes of such red dots like fungal infections, allergies, bacterial infections etc. So I kept my penis dry and the dots seemed to disappear even when I was erect however, after ejaculation they become red again. The dots looked pin size almost completely flat maybe slightly raised and after I kept them dry the skin over them began to peel but this was very tiny amount. Also it seemed like there were more on Wednesday. The same thing repeated on Thursday and now I could notice faint areas of where the red dots were finally (when I did not ejaculate) on Friday I presented my case to a family doctor. He told me that he is not sure whether it is Herpes or just irritation from friction suffered during sex and he prescribed Triderm cream (Betamethasonum + Clotrimazolum + Gentamicinum). A few hours after I applied the cream the dots seemed to disappear completely and my glans looks normal, when I look closely though it seems like I can still see where the dots were but I am not sure if this is just my mind playing tricks on me. From what I read, I understand that you can not get infected with HSV-1 in the genital area if you already have the cold sore virus on your lips. As far as HSV-2 is concerned, before she performed oral sex on me and before we noticed she had the cold sore we kissed wouldn't this mean that I should get a sore on my lips as well? Are my assumptions correct and what are the chances that this is in fact a herpes infection on my glans? I have always been very careful when engaging in sexual behavior but her cold sore developed over night and we didn't notice it. I am quite depressed that something like this could happen to me and I feel like its quite a stupid way to get infected especially being in a exclusive relationship. Please help!

What you describe sounds like a fungal infection to me. I had the same thing happen when I applied an anti-fungal cream when I had tinea versicolor. Eventually the spots disappeared for me.

Thanks and sorry for the multiple posts but even though the spots have gone down and are no longer red i still see a different pigmentation where the spots were :(

Your anxiety over your girlfriend's cold sore is getting the best of you and is making you miss the obvious. If the spots went away with the Triderm then is was not herpes, and was fungal, bacterial, or immune-related.

Herpes could never appear the day after a cold sore anyway.

My advice is to stop examining your penis and just move on.
