still worried

DR. One more thing please, I got my actual # from the lab and HSV 1 = 5.10 and HSV 2 =1.12  Now the nurse told me that pos. for HSV 2 was 1.09 for the herpes select test and my #'s could be low due to recent infection. I tested at around the 5 wk point. She also told me that these tests were very acurate. Also for the past 2 -3 wks I have had pain  in my groin area and my left testicle is swollen a bit and sore. Before my test results, i thought this could be from my hernia opperation and maybe irritated scare tissue (opperation 12 mo ago) from doing sit-ups at the gym.
Questions; should I wait and get tested again, and if so which test; Hernia or swollen glands; Or just forget the whole thing and move on. thank you for your help in this matter

thanks for your response guys, this stuff is really tuff to understand, there are conflicting reports all over the place. I've tried to do my home work, but its still hard for me to get a grip on it. I am going back to my primary for my hernia and ask him again about this.
thanks again!!

Your 1.2 is SO close to the cut off line for positive that I would recommend a retest even if you didn't have hsv1.  Since you do, it makes it even more likely to be a false positive.

I also agree that you should go back to the doc about the pain.  Even if you have herpes, its not likely to cause that kind of pain.

There are no doctors in this forum. If you go to the expert forum, you will find several posts that are similar to your situation.

If you have HSV1, approx 50% of low positive HerpesSelect HSV2 tests may be false positives. Therefore you should test again. The recommended testing window is 3-4 months.

The pain could be related to a hernia. You should go back to your GP.
