unprotected oral sex and White tongue

Hi everyone,

Thank you Medhelp team for your great work.

Around 11 weeks after receiving an unprotected oral sex I started to have a white tongue. and I still have it 2 months later. I did two oral swabs and one KOH fungi test negative. Can this be an STD ?

Thanks

thx Vance. But I had symptoms as you can see in the second paragraph. I would be grateful if you can give some input on it.

and is a urine analysis and culture sufficient to diagnose a Non-specific Urethritis? or do I need a urethral swab?

Now it has been 5 months since this encounter.

PLEASE i need some input on the questions below.

1 - a very itchy rash on the body except the face and neck, 10 days after the fellatio that lasted for 6 days and some pimples had some kind of liquid on the inside. ( I developped this rash after going to the beach, and I think I had taken Azithromicin 1 mg a day before, do not know if it can also be related to these)  Could the rash have been related to an STD? if yes which?

2 - I was also urinating a lot and had mild discomfort on the legs and for a while some discomfot on the left testicule. Now I do not have these symptoms. does this mean that it is ok? is a urine analysis and culture sufficient to diagnose a Non-specific Urethritis? or do I need a urethral swab?

I tested for all the usual STDs and HIV

Thanks very much  for your help

1. You would have symptoms if you had NGU
2. No test for men for HPV
3. Yes but it's been 11 weeks with no symptoms. You have no reason to think you have a STD

I would like to know please your opinion on the following, after having received an unprotected fellatio and had vaginal protected sex:

1-  how is Non-specific Urethritis diagnosed? is a urine analysis and culture sufficient?
2- Is an HPV PCR blood test 3 months after an unprotected fellatio reliable (I know that in the US they do not do such test) and would it also detect HPV warts (although I did not notice any around the genital area) or should I have a genital swab?
3 -what other infections can we catch aside from the above mentionned ones, herpes, gonnorhea and chlamidya ?

the symptoms that I had after the fellatio:
- a very itchy rash on the body except the face and neck, 10 days after the fellatio that lasted for 6 days and some pimples had some kind of liquid on the inside. Could the rash have been related to an STD? if yes which? ( I developped this rash after going to the beach, and I think I had taken Azithromicin 1 mg a day before, do not know if it can also be related to these)

- I was also urinating a lot and had mild discomfort on the legs and for a while some discomfot on the left testicule. Now I do not have these symptoms. does this mean that it is ok?

Many thanks for the info. I do not think I have geographic tongue as u could determine from my pics.  I will try the tongue scraping. I also read that hydrogen perocide or glycerin can help.... well I hope so :s

I found this about dealing with white tongue since youve seen so many doctors.
"A white tongue is something that nobody wants to have. Not only does a coated tongue look abnormal, but if it is left untreated, it's a strong indication of bad breath. People who have the condition known as geographic tongue are definitely more likely to experience a white tongue. Geographic tongue simply means a tongue that has lots of grooves and fissures in it, and these grooves and fissures make an excellent breeding ground for the anaerobic bacteria that cause bad breath and a white tongue. The way around this problem is simply making sure that your tongue is kept as clean as possible. However, not all tongue cleaning is created equal....
Tongue cleaning (or tongue scraping) is a process that the majority of people in the United States don't do on a daily basis. It's one of the most important steps you can take to keep your breath clean and fresh!
It's not difficult to do, and it's not even that time consuming. That extra minute or two per day can reap huge rewards in preventing bad breath, helping to prevent white tongue and returning it to its normal color."

I send you some generalized information related to white tongue. It would be best to follow up with an ear, mouth and throat specialist doctor about this as they can see you in person and do other necessary testing if needed.

thank you very much for your reply. since the condition of my tongue is not related to bacteria, yeast, STD or dryness. well during the day my mouth is not dry only when I wake up in the morning is this considered as dryness? if yes what should I do?

What did you mean by when there is less use of the tongue for talking or eating with regad to illness ?

I did an ESR test also which is for inflammation from what I understood and it was negative.

If there is another type of infection aside from Candida how can I test for it?

You can see pictures of my tongue on my profile. Thanks

Hi and welcome. As vance said for sure, but the below info may help.
Whitening of the tongue can occur when there is a buildup of bacteria and debris on the surface of the tongue due to mild dehydration, illness (when there is less use of the tongue for talking or eating), or dryness of the mouth. A whitening of the top layer of the tongue or the presence of white spots or patches on the tongue can also be seen with infection or chronic inflammation of the surface of the tongue. Certain oral infections, notably Candida yeast infections (known as oral thrush), are characterized by a white tongue. Inflammation and whitening of the tongue can also occur due to dryness or environmental irritants such as smoking. Inflammation of the tongue is known as glossitis.

No, your tongue has nothing to do with receiving oral sex
