Bladder Symptom After Unprotected Encounter

I (37 male) had unprotected sex as well as cunnilingus and unprotected oral sex with an ex-girlfriend on 3/9. We had been drinking. 8 days later my body felt warm and with chills. This lasted for about one day. 2 days after that (the 10th day) my penis began to itch and burn and my foreskin was dry and slightly swollen. I figured this was jock itch from the unprotected sex and began to use antifungal cream. I also had white spots on my tonsils, maybe from the cunnilingus and kissing. But then on 3/20, I started to have bladder and perineum pain while lying down in bed. I'd have an urge to urinate pretty often while sitting or lying down and it would feel like I wasn't emptying my bladder completely. I immediately went to a health clinic and they prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg 3x per day for 10 days. The foreskin swelling and white tonsil spots got better but starting on 3/26, I'd have random jolts of burning or pain on my penis from time to time (maybe jock itch?). I also had lower back pain, but I had done planks and other core muscle group training for a bulging disc the day before so maybe that is related. I went back to the clinic again on 3/29 because of the bladder pain and this time I was prescribed one day of cefixime, metronidazole and 7 days of doxycycline 100mg for 7 days. During the doxycycline, all my symptoms seemed to go away. But before the course of doxycycline was even over, maybe day 4 or 5 of treatment, the bladder symptoms came back for a day. Then they were gone again the next day. I finished the doxycycline on 4/4 and the symptoms just seem to come and go, particularly when I'm lying down or sitting for long periods. They seem much milder than before, but I'm worried they may come back in full swing. I thought this was an STI at first, but I was wondering if this could be a UTI or prostatitis caused by an STI? Would the antibiotics that I've already taken for potential STI's have also treated those 2 potential conditions? The doctor prescribed antibiotics without testing me and said they would "clear this right up" but I still have mild bladder symptoms. Does it take time for symptoms to completely resolve even after this much treatment? And should I wait to get tested again since I just finished the doxycycline 3 days ago on 4/4? Would the antibiotics still affect my test results for a while after finishing? Thank you!

Did anyone actually examine you? Do a prostate exam or anything? Why didn't they do any STI testing?

The doxy will cure chlamydia, the metronidazole will cure trich and the bacteria that causes bacterial vaginosis, if she had that, and the cefixime might cure gonorrhea. There's a lot of resistance to that, though, so it might not.

The amox will probably cure a UTI.

If she had strep throat or something, and you got that genitally from the oral, the amox would treat that.

For now, don't take any more antibiotics. Wait 3 weeks from the last antibiotics that you took, and if you are still having symptoms, then go somewhere that will actually test you before giving you meds.

It's possible that this was a prostate infection - the pain while lying down sounds like it could have been. Give it some time, see what happens, and do not have sex until your symptoms are gone.

Thank you for your response! No they didn't look at me, they just told me that I probably contracted an infection and prescribed antibiotics. I went back to that urgent care because I don't have insurance and they put me on sulfamethoxazole-tmp DS every 12 hours for 7 days. I will finish the last dose later today. The bladder and perineum symptoms have been coming and going during this antibiotic too. Some days they are gone and other days they come back. What kind of doctor should I go to for a prostate exam/infection? Is it a urologist? Or can I go to another urgent care center for that because I don't have insurance?  Do they check for that kind of thing? Could this also be related to my herniated L5-S1 disc? The timing of this coinciding with the unprotected encounter makes me doubt that, but just wondering. Thank you again!
I  also forgot to mention that my lower back has been extremely tight. Would that point more towards prostate infection?
It might, or it might be a UTI.

It could also be your back injury, or tension. There's no way for me to know.

An urgent care doc can diagnose prostatitis. Call your local health dept and ask what services they offer for uninsured people. Stop paying so much. Also, see what the ACA offers for you. I don't know if you can sign up right now, but next open enrollment, sign up. In the meantime, call your health dept.
