Changes of getting an STD from unprotected sex in Vietnam?

I'm currently on a business trip in Vietnam. Foolishy and out of character l had drunken sex with a girl l met in a bar, who was likely a prostitute. During the intercourse she gave me brief unprotected oral sex and then put on a condom. However during intercourse the condom broke. Unfortunately l was drunk and l did not realize it had broken for around 5 minutes. At that point l asked her to stop and l did not ejeculate. In truth I immediately felt sick with worry at my vast stupidity.

24 hours after the unprotected sex l developed a servere fever with sickness, diarrhea and body pains which has now ceased. Then around 60 hours after the incident l noticed a small rash / group of small spots forming on by buttocks and inner thighs. During the past few days (now 5 days after the unprotected sex) the rash has not blistered or developed into open wounds.I'm hoping this is just a sweat / allergy rash, which l can be prone to especially in the hot weather. Although l fear it could be the first stages of a herpes infection. For the record my penis currently has no signs of a rash or spots. The rash on my buttocks only hurts when I'm sweating and feels like sunburn.

I managed to contact the girl involved in the incident and she told me she was clean with good health. However she told me she sometimes has to have sex to earn money to look after her family. This has obviously made me worry more. She did however say she always practiced safe sex and only didn't use a condom with me because it broke. Although l doubt she would be honest with me if she knew she had STDs.

I'm married with a young daughter which makes me worry even more about the consequences of my idiotic and reckless behavior. What are the chances l will have contracted HIV or herpes / another STD?

I plan to visit a doctor once l return to my country of work early next week.

I read up on balantis yesterday. I will try some anti fungul cream to see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like it might be balantis. I'd start an antifungal cream and see if that

This morning when l woke up and inspected my penis I noticed the tip / helmet area seems to have a red rash developing. Also when I pulle my foreskin down I. noticed the skin looks extremely red almost like the skin has been slightly burned. At this time both the rash area and red skin does not burn or itch. Any ideas what this is likely to be?

If the rash increases and becomes painful I will go to see a doctor immediately. In the mean time any advice or details on which STD this may be would greatly appreciated.

Have you taken any antibiotics? Are you diabetic?
Hi, I'm not diabetic and have only recently been taking my regular medication for asthma.

However around 4 weeks ago my doctor prescribed me with 2 steroid creams (dermovate and Canesten) to treat what he believes to be lichen sclerosus. Several months ago the head of my penis area turned a grey / white color, although l showed no signs of an STD and prior to Vietnam the only sexual partner l have been with during the last 5 years is my wife.

As l mentioned in one of my previous comments l have to take a yearly medical for my job. My last medical was conducted in April it showed that l did not test positive for any STDs, at least none that were tested for. However l strongly doubt l was infected with an STD prior to my marriage. Most previous partners l used a condom with and only had unprotected sex with partners who l was with for a period of time and fully trusted.

This morning my foreskin and penis head / tip is still very red and inflamed, especially around the meatus. However I feel no real discomfort, no problems when urinating (other than my urine recently seems to always be dark yellow in color despite how much water l drink), and no obvious signs of sores. It has now been 13 days since my episode of unprotected sex in Vietnam.

It has now been 11 days since l had unprotected sex in Vietnam. Two days ago I woke up to a similar outbreak on one of my buttocks as l did a few days after having unprotected sex, although it was only one of my buttock this time and also not on the back of my thighs. I had around 4 prominent red pimples which seemed to all form a whitehead as the day progressed the next morning they had completely dried out. They did not appear to blister and certainly do not appear to be open sores. Could this be a mild herpes outbreak? My buttocks and thighs had a strange tingling which felt like sunburn. I also have a few similar red spots / marks on my legs and arms. These are larger and do not seem to form whiteheads. They seem to slightly blister then fade. I can not recalling having similar marks like this on my body in the past

Other symptoms I have suffered from include a very slight burning in the rear area of my testicles, a sore throat and cough. It also looks like the helmet of my penis has several small black lumps under the skin (around 20 and they resemble black heads). They are not painful in the slightest and only seem to be on one side. I'm worried this could be first signs of genitial warts. I noticed these lumps around 4 days ago. They have not increased in size but they certainly have in quantity.

I'm trying to wait until the 4/5 weeks mark after exposure to take an STD test in order to be able to have tests conducted for as many STDs as possible. For the record I have to have a yearly medical for my job which involves blood and urine tests and l have never tested positive for an STD. This episode was my one and only time being exposed to high risk exposure.

What do my symptoms suggest? Genital warts and herpes?

Regarding the HIV less time would equal less risk but transmission rates from female to male are very very low. Male to female are much higher but still low. You could get tested for things like NGU, Gon, and clymidia right now. But the viral side and syphillis take a few months.

Thanks for your reply.

You mentioned that with it being just one time exposure that the chances are l won't have caught HIV. I'm also curious to know if l was inside her unprotected for less than 5 minutes (most likely just 2/3 minutes) if this will also reduce the chances of being infected with an STD?

Now after 6 days the rash on my buttocks and thighs seems to be a sweat rash, as it shows no signs of blistering. Although I do seem to have one herpy like blister on my mid back, which could be a zit as it has not changed appearance in several days. Currently l have a sore throat and malaise. However both could be just the product of my imagination due to my worrying.

In regards to an STD check I'm thinking of waiting for 3/4 weeks before visiting a doctor so that it would be possible to be screened for more potential viruses. Is this is a good idea or would it be better to get an test done ASAP?

Most of us know the feeling. This is why we are here. Your chances of catching any Std are low from a one time exposure. HIV would be at the bottom of the list of chances with odds of one in many millions and its very unlikely she had hiv to begin with.  The bacterial infections would be far more likely, and from the viral side hpv and hsv, but absent of obvious sores or lesions the odds are pretty low. No stds show as soon as 1 day, most take weeks some of the bstrerial might show in 3-5 days. What you are experiencing is likely unrelated

Don't beat yourself up to much, we are all human and make stupid mistakes. To protect your wife you will need to get tested at appropriate times
