HELP

I recently had unprotected sex with a supposedly 'clean' partner. I was paranoid after I did it because I began to see or imagine a redness around the hole of my penis. No other symptoms. I went to a doctor, I tested for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Herpes. They were all negative. The redness around the tip by the hole is still present, I dont know if I am imagining  it or paying too close attention to it. The redness is a bit numb when I touch it, it doesn't hurt or burn and I have no discharge. Please help as I am very worried.

Being STD-free does not make one "clean."  Having an STD does not make one "dirty."  If we shower, we are clean.  If you were unlucky enough to have actually caught an STD, you might not appreciate being referred to as not clean.  Please adjust your wording in the future.  and best of luck.

It will go away, and it can vary in how long that takes.  Just keep using the cream, and you might want to use it for a couple of weeks after the symptoms have gone to help ensure that they won't come back.

Thank you everybody who has been helping me out. I took the advice and went to the urologist. I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and was given some cream to apply to the area. I have been on the cream for 3 days and have seen it get a little better. Does anybody know how long a yeast infection usually takes to clear up? if anything will help it clear faster? Or has there been cases where it wont go away?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank You

Either is fine, though your regular doctor might end up referring you to a urologist.

5 days after the encounter was plenty of time to check for Gonn and Clam.

Here is what I would do...

1. Adjust your sexual behavior:
2. Have an annual physical and get tested then for STDs
3. Have a discussion with your partner before sex. The response "I am clean means nothing". Here are some better questions that you should also be ready to answer:

  - When was the last time that you were tested for STDs? How about HIV? How about Herpes?
  - How many partners have you had since then?
  - How many partners did you have a few months before the tests?
  - Have you had unprotected sex?

4. If you get answers that you do not like, it is clear that the risk level is not acceptable to you. Do not have sex!

5. HIV and Syphillis are not common. You could get tested at 6 weeks if you would like to. However, there is no reason to believe that she had it or you caught it. Don't worry too much about these.

6. You could get tested for Herpes at 3-4 months. However, you do not have symptoms. Herpes testing can be a bit inaccurate, so taking a test when you do not have symptoms could cause a lot of worry.

7. FOLLOW UP with a urologist. You may have a yeast infection of the skin which could be treated with a cream. You may have prostatitis. It can cause burning and pain in the penis, scrotum, testes, and anus. It can happen when you are young.

8. Stop worrying. This can magnify body sensations. How? Imagine if you saw a spider in your bedroom before you went to sleep. You may feel sensations all over your body like crawling. If you think you have an STD in your shorts, you may feel all sorts of sensations as your mind focuses on that area.

9. Look up pearly penile papsules on wikipedia. Those are natural and may account for the bumps that you see.

I think you need to go back to your Doctor with your anxieties over this, you have tested negative for STD's so that concern is out of the way,I'm sure you are becoming over anxious about this,it seems to be superficial as you are not in any particular pain, could be a simple allergic reaction to something new you have used for example, also the mind plays funny tricks, often if we look at something long enough and often enough we will imagine we see something else which in fact has probably been there our entire life only we never noticed until the anxiety kicked in .....
To put your mind at rest please see your Doctor again .....

No you are not a rarity at all I believe Prostatitis to be one of the most common Prostate problems in young men .... I was referring to more serious conditions of the Prostate being uncommon in young men ..... sorry for not clarifying that in my Post.

I would be inclined to say that if your Doctor is not terribly concerned at this stage I would leave it a week or so and if the condition persists go back to him,in the meantime try to stop constantly touching and checking it as that innitself may be aggravating the situation and stopping the healing process .....

Did your Doctor test for a Urine Infection ???
And may I ask what age you are?
I worked in Urology for 3 years and it's my belief that Prostate problems although not impossible are fairly uncommon in young men,but only a Urologist could settle for definate.

I saw him about 5 days after my sexual encounter happened to show him the redness around the tip. We tested for STDs and they all came back negative. The redness is still at the tip with no itching or burning when i urinate. Should i see a dermatologist or do they not do areas like that?

Some bumps are natural.

Have you seen your doctor yet?

ok...so if anybody is out there im still looking for help. As i described earlier in the thread, there is still the redness around the tip of my penis, by the hole. The skin is a bit different to the rest of my penis. I have also recently realized that when i get erect and i look at the head of my penis, i could see little bumps all over the top of my head. The bumps are the same color of my penis and they are pretty small and can only be seen when erect. If anyone could help i would really appreciate it.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your feedback. I also have a feeling my testicles are a bit more sensitive. Do you have any knowledge of what this could be?

You should have your prostate checked.  One of the symptoms of an infection in your prostate is a red tip of your penis.  The fact that it doesn't hurt leans towards you imagining it, but why not get checked and put your mind at ease?

Some prostate infections are due to stds, others aren't, so it might be coincidence.
