Redness around penis corona....tysonitis? STD? rash?

I am a 30 yr old sexually active man, and I have been very worried about a condition I have been experiencing on my penis.  I have been experiencing this for about 2.5 months now.

I noticed it was itching and feeling generally strange at the head of penis during the day, but the kind of transient itch or burn that when you touched it, the feeling went away.

That lasted for about a week or so, and I went to a clinic to get STD testing.  The doctor told me it looked fine, just irritated around the penis corona.  I was prescribed clortrimazol (lotramin) to clear up and possible itch.  The STD tests (blood test) came back negative, including the Herpes which was HSV-1 and HSV-2 specific.  It was a pretty thorough screening and all seemed well.

The cream helped somewhat but didn't clear things up as I had hoped, and I noticed that the rim of the corona became slightly raised and wrinkly in a strip around the rim where the penis head (smoother skin) starts.  I told myself not to worry, and since the doctor told me it may be tysonitis i looked into that.

There is very little info on the tyson glands, and the only thing I really discovered is that they may produce smegma, and I noted then that during masturbation I would get more smegma than normal, and on the more irritated side.

After having this condition for about a month or so, I noticed a tiny skin colored bump near the urethra, size of about 1-3 mm, not really cauliflower like i have read, nor like MC with a dimple, just a little patch, then a few days later a similar kind of patch on the other side of urethra. This prompted another visit to the clinic.

The same doctor (seems to be a very good one, older, experienced, not arrogant, very intelligent and witty) looked and said it didn't look like herpes or warts, and in his opinion nothing sexually transmitted.  He gave be a light abrasion cotton swab and a light abrasion alginate swab, and put them in a culture tube, and I also got more blood work done.  The test results again all came back negative, and the culture showed no virus.  The serum levels for HSV were still well below the 0.89 at about 0.2 for each, essentially background noise, and not indicative of any increase in HSV or even having it at all.  He again saw the little patches and told me that it was innocuous and self-limiting.

He suggested that I continue using the lotramin around corona twice a day, keep the area clean, and a little bacitracin at the frenulum which is a little red (has always had red capillaries there) and near the spots.

There is my story....as i have read on these great forums, once you feel you might have something, you look at every bump and lump, and I have honestly never looked at my penis so much in my life!  I hate to be a hypochondriac but also don't want to leave anything untreated or pass off to my girlfriend.  The redness around the corona leaves me with a dull irritation or itch sensation, but any real itching comes from the skin on the shaft, and that is just normal, and I have had jock itch maybe 5 times or more since adolescence, and know how to fix that with lotramin.

The red around the corona is like capillaries, and they kinda reach into the head of penis on the sides (if looking down at it).  I am circumcised but still have enough foreskin that it covers the area in question when at rest, so it may be a typical yeast/fungal/bacterial thing promoted by the moisture.  My doctor told me it didn't look like candida or any real balanitis.

Today I noted another small bump maybe 1 mm or so on the rim of corona, and I feel like at this point I may be finding all sorts of them that may have been there before I started my quest to find them!!!  I need help.  It has been developing and evolving very slow compared to what I have read about STDs.

The tests have all shown negative, and the doc told me I will be ok, but every morning I wake up nervous and go to the bathroom to see what new wonders are on my penis =(  I also will look several times throughout the day to reassure myself that I am just overreacting, but sometimes it really looks like there is something wrong here.  It just kinda looks red and patchy and blotchy around corona if you were to sum it up, and I have seen capillaries there before (around corona) and maybe they have just kinda gotten "brighter" now that there is a surface infection irritant?

I have reduced masturbation but can't give it up all the way, and soon I will be back with my girlfriend and really want to have a handle on all this soon.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE......I really want to hear from some doctors here about this, especially after this HUGE POST.  It would let me sleep better just hearing from you and ultimately I am seeking advice to take care of my health.  I don't have any insurance and that is why I have resisted going to a dermatologist since they cost $$$.  Please help me here.  Thanks to all who have read and I hope this post will help others like me.

Thanks for clearing that up for me grace, I have never posted here.  I have paid the posting fee and hope to get some answer soon.  I just don't have the money to go getting second opinions which are likely same as the first one, and I really just need to ease my anxiety.  Trust me, I don't enjoy my new paranoid hobby of penis watching at allll, it is stressful =(

If anyone reads this post and has an interest, it is now in the non-international STD forum.  thanks

this isn't the doctor's forum. you have to pay to post there.

you've been seen and no one thinks this is std related. My advice is to get a new hobby that doesn't involve looking at your penis.  Sounds like you are just paying far too much attention to things at the moment.

have you had partners other than your gf?  has your gf had full std testing?  Have either of you had your gardasil shots?

I also should note that during the past three months I have had to work very hard and never been more tired than this, long days.  I also have only been eating microwave dinners, pizza, eating out.  I do choose healthier options and not the worst diet, but I have gained weight which I normally never do, and went from 153 lbs to around 165 lbs in just a few months.  I figured I would add this since it may factor into why I may suddenly have gotten a rash or irritation or infection.
