Suffering from anxiety from unprotected oral - please help!!

Hello everyone!

Mid 40s married gentleman here who made an incredibly stupid decision last week :( After consuming way too much alcohol, I ended up giving unprotected oral to another male for 2-3 minutes (nothing physically noticeable on him and no ejaculation). It’s a long story, but I didn’t know him and I have no idea what his health status is. Dumbest mistake of my life and it’s killing me :(

Two days later, I ended up going down the rabbit hole on Reddit and started reading about oral gonorrhea and completely lost my mind learning that most of the it’s asymptomatic. I also learned about doxyprep and went to the clinic for treatment - which I did (200 mg doxy 48 hours after exposure). I thought that would be enough to put my mind at ease, but it wasn’t, so I had a virtual visit earlier today and received a full treatment of gonorrhea too (azith and cef). I have yet to have any symptoms and I’m scared to death I could bring something home to my wife either via kissing or oral or something else. Does anyone know what risk I subjected myself to and if it’s possible for me to spread anything, even though I don’t have symptoms? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m hoping I’m just blowing this out of proportion :(

Ok, so was there a risk? Yes.

Would I be concerned? No.

The risk of transmission with a single case of oral is VERY low. and because your timeframe was short, the risk of anything here is none to very low. I would not worry at all.

Thank you so much for your quick response back, I really appreciate it! The mind plays terrible tricks and I definitely learned a lesson here. Having doxprep so fast, coupled with taking a full treatment 4 days after exposure, I figured my risk was probably very low. I just hope I didn’t hurt myself by taking so many antibiotics in a short amount of time :(
How much Doxy did you take? DoxyPep is 2 100-mg pills, taken once. What did you take?
Hi auntiejessi -

That’s correct, I took 2 100 mg pills of Doxy 40 hours after my mistake. And then 2 days later (4 days after my mistake), I took 4 250 mg pills of azith, and 2 400mg pills of cefixime.
Oh that's way too much, and totally unnecessary. You might want to take a probiotic for a couple of weeks.

Is this type of anxiety new to you? I understand there's a guilt response here, but if you really went down a Reddit rabbithole, someone should have told you that oral gonorrhea isn't common.

The azith would have been for chlamydia, and oral chlamydia is even less common than oral gonorrhea.

Also, if alcohol and/or impulse control is an issue, is that being addressed?
This type of anxiety is new to me, but as I sit here, I can see it. The Reddit rabbit hole made it sound like oral gonorrhea happens to people all the time. So that coupled with guilt intensified everything, which is my consequence and one that I deserve. The good news is that this little experience will prevent me from ever doing something like this again.

Lastly, I figured this amount of antibiotics might tilt the health in my gut, etc. I take probiotics everyday and will continue to do so. Hopefully I wont get any kind of yeast infection.

Thank you again for your quick response back - I’m so grateful…
You're welcome. :)

Oral sex is much lower risk than vaginal or anal, so STDs resulting from that are fewer.

You're going to be fine. Hang in there. :)
