Talk with your Dr, we can not interpret test results.
confused about the way to continue this
but in general what is the difference between gram stain negative and gram stain positive>>>>??
Don't know much about gram stains so that is why I suggested seeing a Dr and talking to him/her about your results.
thanks . i was hopeful for more information. i am in philippines right now and sometimes the lab people dont give much information .they did say its not an infection? and no worry but they had difficulty explaining it?
so i will follow up with another doctor.
A gram stain looks for bacteria. sometimes it's normal skin bacteria, sometimes it's infection. we will often start treatment based on a + gram stain and then change or discontinue treatment based on culture results. I would guess that your culture grew out negative or just normal skin flora hence why they told you you don't have an infection but certainly double check to be sure. you know what they say about folks who make assumptions.

thank you for all the comments.
saw the doctor and he said nothing to worry about.
its normal skin bacteria and maybe staph or strep????? something like that. Streptococcus???? i think that is what he said.
doctor said its on the skin and not an infection.
of course i have had staph infections before. so i do worry some.
but said to be safe its better to wash off with betadine..
thank you again to everyone that gave feedback i do appreciate it.
