risk of STD from protected oral sex with prostitute

I had protected oral sex with a prostitute 9 days ago. 5 days after the sexual encounter I experienced
a slight burning when urinating, this sensation was not from the base of the shaft to the top of my penis
just at a certain point before the urine reached the inner bottom of shaft in urithra. The burning on a scale of 1 to 10
10 being the highest i would say about 4 maybe 5. Whilst she was performing oral sex with condom she was squeezing my balls with one of her hands.I noticed also that the condom was not fully protecting the bottom my shaft ,she DID NOT put her mouth over the unprotected area of my shaft.I have NO discharge or burning or itching
at the tip of my penis. When I finished I did touch the bottom of the condom with my fingers, but she took it of with
a bacterial wipe. I wiped my hands and penis with a wipe after the encounter. What are the risks of exsposure to a STD? Do i need to be tested for a STD, STI ?  THANK YOU KINDLY

Your doctor ran the routine dip stick test.  Having a small lemon flavoured beer will make no different to the results.

The strongest specimen is that given in the morning (a mid stream sample).   Dip stick urine tests are quite sensitive, but the laboratory is definitely more specific.  As your doctor checked for protein, leucocytes, blood and nitrite - these types of urine dip sticks do no show up STD infections.  There are specific urine dip sticks for different things.

The important think with any urinary problem is to drink more fluids (not alcohol) and ensure good hygiene.  Prostatitis can return.  You can find more specific information on the web on prostatitis.

Stop worrying and  being so anxious and follow the advice of your doctor.

hello vance, I know you have stated that I do not have a STD, but was wondering if you knew anything about what affects a urine dip strip test?
I  think the dip strip urine test result was a false negative, as I had a small lemon flavoured beer that comes in a bottle, 2 hours before my test so maybe that has affected the result? what do you think ?

You should follow the advice of your doctor.

It may be likely that your urine symptoms are associated with a prostate problem.  You do not say what problem you had with your prostate 3 years ago, but as far as I know if the prostate is enlarged, you need medication for this all the time.

A PSA blood test would indicate if there is a problem with your prostate.  If the doctor suspects a prostate problem she should refer you to the urologist.

You need to follow the advice of your doctor, and do what you feel is right for you.

Let me know how you get on.

just back from the doctors had a urine dip stick tests for  leucocytes, protein, blood, nitrites my urine sample was normal no infection, but the doctor said
that sometimes can give a incorrect result, so tomorrow morning I've to have mid stream urine sample i.e. urine culture test as the result will clarify there is no infection. also next wednesday thinking about going to be tested for Trichomoniasis, Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma, gonorrhea and possibly chlamydia. I think it really depends on the urine culture if that comes back negative , I might not need to have a swab test. I mentioned that 3 years ago
I had  chronic prostate problem, the doctor gave me cipro for 28 days as she thinks that my  prostate problem has returned. I mentioned the protected oral sex, and the doctor said it is low risk and that it's probably better to cover everything as in test, especially if the urine culture comes back positive. What do you think?

thanks kindly dazza

thank you for your advice jemma, I have read a lot of  posts from experts on this website i.e doctors, they seem to think that protected oral sex is very, very low risk almost zero risk, if I have a STD after my tests, then the expert doctors on this website and vance2335 who reckons I have no STD from my sexual encounter. If I have a STD I hope vance2335 will read my results.
Prior to my sexual encounter I have not had sex of any kind for over a year and that again was protected oral sex.

anyway will have to wait for my results will be very interesting for all on this website thanks kindly

I am not an expert of sexually transmitted diseases.  But any skin contact with an infected person, even for a few seconds, exposes you to the germs and potential risk of contracting whatever.

In my view, you are doing absolutely the right thing in getting checked out.  I presume you are still experiencing problems with urinating and that the symptoms have not settled.

You are doing the right thing to see the doctor to get your urine checked for any urinary infections and wise to get checked out for the other problems that you are concerned about.  It best be safe than sorry.

The only thing is, I wish you had gone sooner to see your doctor.

Best wishes.

thank you for your advice jemma . Wednesday I've booked a appointment to see the doctor, and he is going to do urine dip stick tests, but if there is a sign of infection, then I'm going to ask for a swab test for chlamydia, gonarreha and trich, I'm maybe worrying to much about  STD's, and i dont think I need
to be tested for any other STD's since my sexual encounter was very low risk.
What do you think jemma? Will keep you up to date P.S With gonarreha the experts on this website say that only 5% of cases show no symptoms surely if I had gonahreha I would have discharge by now 16 days since sexual encounter.

thank you kindly

It they do urine dip stick tests, it would be a good idea to get that done.  It will detect any leucocytes, protein, blood, nitrites which are indictors of an infection.

There is no point taking an antibiotic without getting a proper diagnosis.  Do remember that antibiotics not only destroy your bad bacteria, but also your good bacteria, and that can encourage yeast overgrowth causing fungal problems.

You can purchase urine dip sticks of the internet through Amazon to check your urine at home.

It is worth talking to your pharmacist regarding your symptoms.  He may prescribe an appropriate antibiotic, or refer you to your doctor for further investigation.

Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes.

thank you so much jemma for your advice. I will try the Bicarbonate of Soda
and you could be right i may be allergic to the latex condom! I will check out what antibiotics I can take for a  urinary tract infection. Where i live you can
go to the pharmacist and explain your symptoms and they give you the appropriate medication without going to the doctors. I will keep you informed thanks again.

The symptoms you describe could be that of a bladder infection called cystitis.  Your doctor can do a urine dip stick test to see if you have a urinary tract infection.

Your symptoms could also be an allergy to the condom, especially if this was not a latex free one.

Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and especially water.
As a home remedy when you experience a burning sensation when you urinate, you can put a teaspoonful of Bicarbonate of Soda into a glass of water and drink this.  You can do this 3 times only with a hour in between each dose.  If it is urinary infection that is causing your symptoms, that will be because the urine is acidic.  The Bicarbonate of Soda neutralises the acidity of the urine.  You can purchase Bicarbonate of Soda from the bakery section in the supermarket or from your pharmacy.

Make an urgent appointment to see your doctor to check whether you have a urinary infection.

Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes.

thank you for your reply! It's been 10 days now since my sexual encounter,
I still have a little burning sensation, before the urine reaches the penis shaft,
no burning from bottom of shaft to tip of penis, possibly just after exiting the bladder, would a STD cause this !!, I have read that if you have chlamyedia you have probably got gonorrhea as well, given this information and the symptoms and the time that has know lapsed, surely I would have some discharge!!  if I had both. incubation period for chlamydia 3 to 21 days!!  gonorrhea 2 to 10 days, but can also be up to 28 days before symptoms.  thank you again!!
