Welcome to the Forum. I'll be pleased to comment. Your experience is fairly typical in a number of ways. Because chlamydial infection can be present for prolonged periods and asymptomatic it is not all that uncommon for partners in relatively new relationships to find that one or the other had chlamydia after making the decision to abandon condom-protected sex. The therapy you had, most likely an injection of ceftriaxone combined with a 1.0 gram dose of azithromycin included the recommended therapy for gonorrhea, chlamydia and nongonococcal urethritis in men and has about a 97-98% cure rate I presume that your GF was also treated, correct?
Your lingering symptoms may not reflect treatment failure but rather the fact that you are now more attuned to and aware of genital sensations than you were prior to this event. Small amounts of residual urine and intermittent testicular discomfort which may not be noted if you are otherwise engaged or distract is common in these situations and do not suggest a continuing STI. I suggest that you keep you scheduled follow-up and be sure that the folks you see not only test you again for gonorrhea or chlamydia but also check either a swab taken from your penis or your urine for increased numbers of white blood cells at that time as well. Remember, the urine tests are best if you have not urinated for at least an hour before you give your specimen and the urine you give should be a smallish amount (half a specimen cup) collected just s you begin to urinate, not at mid-stream.
I hope these comments are helpful to you. EWH
After being diagnosed with chlamydia i immediately notified my girlfriend to go get tested and treated because she was still not getting any symptoms whatsoever but after what happened I do not want to continue this relationship because i feel somewhat tricked and lied to! However its my fault for fully trusting her i guess she has been asymptomatic for quite a long time.
They did not exactly tell me what they gave me but i am assuming it is what you say it is because i have been doing a little research on my own and that is the recommended treatment for chlamydia that everyone pretty much gets. I have my follow-up on the 4th but last time they tested me they only too urine and blood samples no swabs should i tell them specifically to do that? Also when they tested me they tested me for everything HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea ect and everything came out negative except chlamydia. And about the urine they told me specifically not to urinate 2 hours prior my testing so that i am aware of.
So should i be worried about anything or these symptoms that i am experiencing are going to go away on its own as time passes and my body recovers? Because i saw a ton of threats on these forums that talk about how people get different health problems post treatment like: epididiymitis or prostatitis I even read about a person which was told by his biomagnetism hollistic doctor that the chlamydia has gone to his prostate and testicles. He claims that the chlamydia had gone to his testicles and prostate and had caused a bacterial prostatis infection. From what i have read and correct me if i am mistaken don't you get these complications if you are not treated for a prolonged period of time? In my case i was treated right away because i have never had anything else before that i have been tested multiple times. Also that same person says that eating raw garlic 4 cloves a day for 2 weeks will cure prostatitis is this true ?
Your lack of trust and sense of having been wronged is inappropriate. If you had other partners before entering into your relationship with her, you could have been asymptomatically infected as well. STIS happen, thus it is good for both partners to be checked prior to or soon after beginning unprotected intercourse. The blame game is a non-starter and inappropriate.
The urine tests work as well as the swab test unless you are in a setting where they look under the microscope to give immediate results. In those settings the swab is preferred.
I anticipate your symptoms will go away over time. With the treatment you have had, complications o your infection are not a meaningful concern. Prostatitis is not an STI and is not cured by eating garlic. EWH
