Thank you doctor. Hey going up to Wahington next week, maybe a cup of coffee and more questions? Just joking...no thanks really for the help.
I know the forum is for STD, what if some of us here (including myself) while we over analyze due to anxiety we ask ourselves....Hey do I drink enough water? That may be another reason for urethra issues.
Anyways thanks doc. Hopefully this will be my last worry.
Good Luck. Best of Wishes.
If a dermatologist says you don't have herpes, you don't have it. Dermatologists are the experts in visual diagnosis of skin conditions, and no dermatologist would miss (or fail to suspect) herpes. Further, oral sex is safe sex. Yes, there is some risk for some STDs (herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea) but not others (HIV, chlamydia, HPV), but all in all there is far less STD/HIV risk for unprotected oral sex than for vaginal or anal intercourse. Based on all you say, you didn't really need any of the STD tests you had.
And you're obviously examining yourself too closely. (A flashlight to look at your urethral lining, for goodness' sake??) The more you look at normal skin, the more you will find. Anything you have to work so hard to see probably is normal and certainly not an STD.
To your questions:
1) Yes, it is safe to say you don't have herpes.
2,3) Probably your anxiety about all this is magnifying normal body sensations, and even your sense of how red the tip of your penis is. If in doubt, return to the dermatologist for another reassuring examination. But my bet is that all is normal, and certainly you have no STD.
Good luck-- HHH, MD
