I got my tests from the clinic that i took one week after exposure. They read as follows: IGM .35 negative, IGG 2.35 borderline positive. i wish they were less vague so I would know where I stood. My urologist is a rare individual that really cares fo rht epatient and he assured me several times that the burning could not be from Herpes and I would have noticed a lesion an certainly felt it 4-10 days after exposure which i did not. i had him take blood again. If you make anything out of the results above please advise. iwas hoping by testing after a week I would know I had antibodies I am not sure if that result tells me that. If I turn out to be positive for HSV1 now with this test what do I need to do with that information? Is it really a rare risk to have unprotected genital to genital sex unprotected when no lesions present. i understand HSV1 does not shed when out of its region of preference and also not likely to be transmitted genital to genital. Please advise. if my GF got a cold sore from oral it would be a huge load off as those can come from anywhere. In any event, your wisdom on this issue is appreciated. Thanks.

You are right about the antibody test for HSV. it take a median of 21 days to become positive.
While it happens, HSV within the urethral without lesions is both VERY rare and VERY painful. You description does not match.
Yes, the lesions would appear at the site of contact and would have shown up in most cases in 4-7 days after exposure. EWH
Thanks for answering my questions. I think we may have had a miscommunication wanted to make sure your answer does not change. I was tested seven days after oral exposure. I know that would not have told me about recent infection. I was in fear so wanted to check and see if I had antibodies the doctors did not give me a score but the test was Igg and they said I had antibodies for HSV1. I know the chicken pox would have no affect so I can assume I did in fact have the antibodies? This burning has subsided quite a bit but I keep thinking that perhaps I had a lesion inside my urethra.
In the second part of the question I wanted to know if ever HSV1 has an initial outbreak inside the urethra with no visible outward lesions. I had no discharge no pus no leakage nothing just burning and pain. This is really important to me before I have sexual encounters with GF as stated prior.
The lesions on infection would be on the skin correct? wherever the contact was? I did not notice any cold sores on the girls lips I assume I would have please let me know what your thought is. When would they have shown up? I want to be responsible now that I was as irresponsible as could be. Thanks for your patience and your replies.
Consider yourself reassured. You have tested negative and the tests are very good. You have been examined by your urologist and he saw nothing to worry about. you have the data. you do not have an STD and your GF is not at risk. A few more comments related to your post.
Herpes. You have HSV-1, like nearly 2/3 of adults, most of whom are unaware of it. The absence of colds sores related to HSV-1 is the case for most persons with this infection. For your burning to be due to HSV without lesions would be quite unusual. Finally, having had chicken pox does not prevent you from getting HSV - there is no meaningful cross protection. Having HSV-1 means that you will almost certainly get HSV-1 at any site in the future and likely provides partial (but not total) immunity to HSV-2, if you are exposed.
Your discomfort. My guess is that following your oral encounter outside of your relationship there was some guilt and that you focused on whether or not there were new sensations or symptoms. In doing this you may have been a bit hypersensitive to sensations which were normal and/or related to anxiety. this is a common occurrence.
Hope this helps. EWH
