Chlamydia or Yeast Infection

I have a question concerning this issue: I read one of the earlier questions regarding this STD or STI.
I was currently in Cabo Mexico and I had sex with 2 people: the first girl was a Hisp girl and I used protection the second was with a Canadian girl which I was a drinking and made the wrong decision to not use protection. She was in a past relationship for the last 7 years and I was the first one she slept with since her ex. I had sex with her in the ocean there and also a second time but she was very tight so it kinda hurt trying to get it in. The reason why I gave you so such detail is for what happened next. This all took place on March 29th I got back from Mexico on March 31st.I came home not feeling too great at all and then on April 4th I was feeling so sick that I was throwing up and having bad chills and dizziness. I went to the ER and they did blood tests from both arms to see what the matter was with me to make a long story short they figured I had gotten sick from the water. I also had an infection on the tip of my penis, I was born with the size of a dime skin missing from the tip of my penis but it started like peeling back and hurting so I mentioned that to the Doc and he looked at it and said it looks like it was infected and could possibly be an STD. He have me Doxycycline for the infection on my penis. He also gave me another antibiotic too for my intestinal infection. The next day I had bad diarrhea and a fever and just wasn't better so I went back to the ER and they did more blood work and decided that I in-fact for sure had an intestinal infection so he gave me Cipro for that. My penis healed up as far as my skin peeling back and sore tip on my pee hole. I still feel like something isn't right though still my penis feels like sore around my head like something’s infected or something there are not visible signs of anything. Sometimes It might hurt a little to urinate but I am not sure......
I am going to go to the docs ( 2 weeks for STDcheck

Welcome to the STD forum.  I'll try to help.

You had at least 2 separate medical problems; probably neither one was an STD.  The nausea, vomiting, chills, diarrhea etc was some sort of virus, or perhaps a bacterial intestinal infection -- i.e., traveler's diarrhea.  You could have caught such an infection from a sex partner, but more likely the timing was coincidental.  Your doctor obviously thought it was a bacteria like traveler's diarrhea, which is why he gave you an antibiotic for it.

As for the penile problem, I cannot quite envision what you mean by skin "missing" from your penis.  If there is a thin area of skin that is more susceptibile to irritation and superfical infection, that could explain skin "peeling back".  What STD did the doctor think it might be?  Gonorrhea or chlamydia don't do this sort of thing; it sounds like he gave you doxycycline as a precaution, not because he made a definite STD diagnosis.  He obviously did not think it is herpes; he knows that doxycycline has no effect on herpes.  And syphilis doesn't come on so soon.  Were you tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc?

In conclusion, I don't think you have any significant worries here.  As a precaution, finish the doxycycline prescription plus the antibiotic for diarrhea.  If you penis heals and your other symptoms clear up, nothing more need be done.  But if you remain concerned, see your primary care doctor or visit your local health department STD clinic.  But I doubt you had an STD of any kind.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Since I don't know what you have, I cannot say whether it should have cleared up by now.  Certainly having an open, exposed (non-skin-covered) spot on your penis might be expected to delay healing of any infection.  Certainly it is reasonable to see a health professional to assess the situation, but there is little point in having an STD evaluation at this time.  Any possible STD that could explain your symptoms would be effectively treated by doxycycline and ciprofloxacin; any tests would be negative so no point in spending any money (your or your insurance company's) on that.

I still don't have a clear understanding of the anatomic anomaly of your penis.  But it seems you should discuss it with your doctor.  Perhaps a urologist or dermatologist could repair the problem.

In any case, I suggest you just put STDs aside in your thinking. No STD ever was likely and certainly with those antibiotics, it's definitely not an issue now.

I really appreciate you being so quick to respond to my question.
What I mean by skin missing is that there the skin is missing right at the tip maybe not as big as a dime, more oval shaped but to the point where it really is only on half the left side of my pee hole and just a little on the right side so I could flip the skin up. So yeah it has always been ultra sensitive, it has never got infected but seems like it could possibly happen easy. I could flip the skin up normally like I stated but when this happeded when I flipped it up it was more that usual (normal ) and it hurt.

The Doctor didn't think I had any specific STD for sure, he just gave it to me as a precautionary. I wasn't tested for any STD's at that time to my knoledge they just did my blood work to find out if I had an infection etc. The Doxy precsription he have me was like just 5 pills and I took those all at once and I have finished my cypro already too.
My penus feels irtiated on my head of my penis and inside or something that is why I was leading to it possibly being that yeast infection. If it was that how long would it take to clear up, this long ?? I am going to go get checked tomorrow for STD's as a precautionary but was just wondering if there is something else it may be like the yeast infection or an inside infection.

Thanks Dr.  H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D
