A related discussion,
Similar Case was started.
I was treated for chlamydia and 8 days later I got re tested this time with the penis swab and it came back negative but after I use the bathroom at times I my see a sticky clear discharge but it isn't enough to jus drip out I'm just curious to know if I may be infected and the test may have been flawed because I didn't see any discharge when I was getting swabbed
I also have lower ab and back pain and a white goo type liquid coming from my penis when I wake up or an hour or 2 after urination but when I got tested (3x) no std but the doc said she saw some bacteria in the swab sample she got from me, she gave me tretment for trichomonoiasis and urethritis but a week later I still have this discharge and my right testical has this on and off pain, if its not an std what is it and who should I see for fast on point treatment or at least a real answer on what's wrong with me?
hey there...
i too had a very similar problem a couple of years ago. Dr. H is completely correct. I wasted a lot of time and money and saw many dr's only to draw the same conclusion as Dr. H gave you.
i had the same dna tests for chlamydia and the other stds. all negative. One dr. just told me to have more sex. it is posssible that your prostate is congested, and that when you urinate the muscles squeeze a little fluid out each time. it is very normal with a bowel movement.
hope this helps. many men experience this.
Thank you.
You have been very helpful.
As this is not an STD I will end my thread here.
1 and 2, I don't know; 3 probably yes. However, this is not an STD problem, which is as far as this forum goes. These are questions for your primary care doctor or, if you want advice beyond his or her expertise, for a urologist.
Thanks Dr -
One final post from me, hopefully. Just so I understand the scope of this better.
1. Why would this start to occur when I never noticed it before? Is it something that comes with age?
2. How long after ejaculation would i still see remains of fluid? For example, on several occasions I have noticed the discharge up to three hours after ejaculation. I had also urinated after the ejaculation, so I would assume the urithra was cleared from residue.
3. Is this something that is just lived with and not treated?
While I do not feel I have contracted Gonorrhea, all the information on the web seems to point to Chlamydia. Granted, a negative test points otherwise...
Again, I just want to understand what is going on a bit better. Hopefully once I do, I will not be as concerned with a possible STD.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. It is very much appreciated.
This doesn't change my opinion or advice. Of course see a health care provider once again if you remain concerned. But don't get your hopes up that anything will be found. You don't have an STD.
Hey Dr. -
I noticed today, the same type of discharge for no apparent reason. Should I be concerned or is this still nothing to lose sleep over.
I really can't help shaking teh feeling that I have contracted something. If I didn't continually see some evidence of it I woudl feel better, however as soon as I resign myslef to the idea that nothing is wrong, I experience teh discharge in one form or another. If this discharge happens for no reason shoudl I go and get re-checked?
Thank you.
Again, thank you.
Now it is just a case of getting my own paranoid ideas out of my head...
Regards.
You're right, "GP" is still used a lot in the US. But more in the UK than here.
The azithromycin would not alter test results that quickly, only after a couple of days.
Dr. Handsfield -
Thank you for your quick response. It is indeed helpful. I think now it is just a case of me getting over my own guilt and anxiety about the situation.
I am in fact from the US; my lack of going to the DR unless something seems off, shows in my ignorance of using "GP".
Not being a believer in coincidence, I really had a hard time believing these issues were unrelated, as you are now the fourth DR to tell me it is normal, I will take it as truth and try to move on.
Thank you, again, for helping to put my mind at ease. With all of the other information on the internet, it is very easy to convince yourself that any type of discharge is an STD.
One final question, when I was tested I had taken the first pill in a Z Pack for a sore throat, an hour or two earlier. Could that have thrown the test off?
Best.
I agree exactly with the advice you got from two different GPs and the clinic. I'm guessing you're in the UK, where GP remains the common term for what the US now called family medicine, FP. If so, perhaps the clinic was an NHS GUM clinic. That is a highly reliable source of STD related clinical evaluation, among the best in the world.
You give a well written, articulate description of both pre-ejaculate fluid associated with nocturnal erections and secretions being expressed from your prostate gland and/or seminal vesicles by straining at stool. I could use your statements to teach medical students about it. Both indeed are entirely normal, although they vary in frequency between men.
Diffuse abdominal, testicular and low back pain are typical for the male chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS), which is generally a manifestation of genitally focused anxiety; the discomfort is believed to come from stress-related tension in muscles in the pelvic floor. For lots of information, google CPPS (spell it out) and look first at the excellent Wikipedia article and the information you'll find from the Stanford University department of urology. You'll probably see a lot of information that fits your situation.
Those comments answer your third and fourth questions. As for the others, the DNA tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia are highly reliable. Testing is valid within 2-3 days of exposure; a week is perfect timing. You are not infected and never were -- and in any case, your symptoms didn't suggest either infection.
I hope this helps. Best wishes-- HHH, MD
