My Condition

Doc,

Nearly 3 weeks ago I had a protected heterosexual indiscretion with someone of unknown STD status it was primarily an oral sex event but when conventional intercourse was attemted the condom broke during penetration..  When this happened the event ended immediately and I did not feel and skin on skin contact. However, for the past nearly 3 weeks I have had a redness around the penis opening and and some rawness on the underside of it...  On and off since this has occured I have also experienced some intermittent discomfort in the urethra with some post urination drippage, what could this be?  I did see my GP who said it was simply a skin irritation and prescribed Clortrimazole for the redness which has persistd to a slight degree for a week and a half with this lotion.  Also, my GP suggested that it was not HSV since there was lack of water blisters anywhere in sight and I did not have swollen glands in my groin.  I also want to add that 1 day after the event I went to a walk in medical clinic who performed a urethral swab and prescribed Cipro and Zmax as a precuation which I took, eventually these tests came back negative..  Also at 12 days I took Herpe-select 1 and 2 which both came back negative.

1)What are the possibilties I have Herpes in my gential tract, specifically my urethra?

2)In spite of any lack of blisters could someone still have herpes?

3)Is it possible to show sero-negativiy if there is presence of some sort of outbreak in my case a persistant redness?

Any guidance you can suggest on this would be extremely helpful, thanks for a great site too!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease Doctor I really appreciate it..

If herpes was present in the Urethra would the symtoms be subtle, for instance would I feel a slight pinch from time to time of would I definately know?

I know I am being a freak about this but with every slight malady I feel post encounter I am convinced that have something terrible.

Herpes in the urethra is excrutiating; some men describe as the worst pain they ever experienced.  You would definitely know it!
