Could this be HPV? What does the irritation mean.

In January I had some extreme itching and found that I had a yeast infection.   Then i thought that i had a vaginal cut during this because there was a pain on the inner right lip like a cut.  After the yeast infection cleared there were three small bumps on the inner right lip.  I went to the doctor to let him know that tho the yeast infection was cleared i was still experiencing some burning.  I met with the first available doctor.  he said it looked like small genital Warts.  He gave me some Condylox.  I used that for a few weeks and nothing changed and the burning persisted.  I went to see my regular Obgyn and we tested for EVERY STD.  Syphilus, Gonnorea, chlamydia, HIV, we even tested cervical cancer, we did a herpies culture and an HPV culture.  All cam back negative.  The burning dulled out a little the three small bumps remained (they just looked fleshy not hard, dont look like blisters or anything).  I went in to see another doctor about the burning and she said it looked like I was having an allergic reaction to something, maybe bath or laundry soap.  My vaginal area was Very inflammed a week later i noted lumps on the inner right side kinda like hives (under the sking).  Even my hair is irritating to it.  My doctor gave me some more Condylox and said maybe i had a false negative.  The bumps still haven't gone away. I am still very irritable.  Oh I forgot to mention after the yeast infection i had intercourse my vagtina became very swollen and dripped blood, and my doctor even rulled out PID, and tested for Bacteria which was negative.  I am going crazy and I just want the burning to stop ( I'm all red).  Could it still be HPV?  What do you think?  I really would like some relief.

Again, I think you need to be seen to sort this out.  Sometimes the creams in which active components of various creams can cause initial burig on their own at the time of applicaation, particularly if the skin is already irritated. The problem with self medicating before you have been seen is that it confuses the ability of clinicians to appreciate what is going on.  EWH

That is helpful. Do you have any suggestions as to what will provide some relief? I was prescribed a cream (nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide) but the burning is persistant.  any suggestions on what I can suggest to my doctor?

Welcome to our Forum.  I suspect that, at this time, there are two things going on here. The first has to do with the bumps you noticed, the second has to do with your current irritation and bringing.  Let's deal with the irritation and burning first.  It sounds as though for whatever reason at this time you have vaginal inflammation and the irritation that follows. This typically leads to swelling, local irritation and through this a vulnerability to further irritation. When it gets bad enough bleeding can occur.  Sometimes well intending application of additional medications and creams can actually promote further irritation in a sort of vicious cycle.  You need to be looked at by a professional who can assess this and make suggestions as to how to "quiet down" the irritation you are experiencing so that the area can heal.  Putting podofilox on an area of irritation at his time is probably not the right thing to do.  I suspect a dermatologist who is comfortable evaluating vulvar irritation would be the right person to seek evaluation from (be sure to ask if they are comfortable with genital dermatology, not all are).  Until you can be seen I certainly would not apply further podofilox and probably would try not to put anything on the area at all.

The second issue has to do with your "bumps".  Hindsight is difficult but it really doesn’t sound as though you had warts. There are numerous glands and follicles, as well as benign cysts which can occur in the genital area and which can be mistaken for HPV.  It sounds as though you were thoroughly tested and that HPV was ot present.  I would believe the tests.   Again, this is an area where a dermatologist may be helpful.  If need be, it is easy to perform a tiny biopsy of such a bump (once the local irritation has improved) to definitively say what is going on.

Hope these suggestions are helpful to you.  EWH
