DR HHH HELP!

Hello Dr HHH,

Im a 26 year old man, I had unprotected Vaginal sex 14 weeks ago. I tested at:

6,21 days 6 weeks and 10 weeks all on the HIV DUO. Then at 13 weeks using an Hiv insti.

What concerns me is that I have got some lypmh swelling for an unexplained reason. I have one lymph behind my ear confirmed by the doctor and Im waiting to go and have my epitrochlear or medial epidoncyle ultra sounded to see what the inflammation is - the swelling there is bi-lateral.

I have psoted afew questions in the members forum but I want a true informed experts opinion. I have continued sexual relations with my wife. I did so after 10 week duo. Was I wrong to do this? My wife thinks she might be getting vaginal thrush- is this relevant?

I had mumps, 2 days after sexual intercourse. I tested positive for that. Can mumps leave reactive lypmhadapthys long after it has gone? Am I absolutley in the clear?

Hepatitis C is not a heterosexually transmitted disease.  You still have no reason to worry.  There will be no further questions and any further questions or comments will be deleted without reply.  EWH

Absolute final question, (sorry)

If I was exposed to HepC at the same time as HIV. Would that affect my test? I am assuming P24 antigen would still be produced just a slower production of antibodys. Meaning the P24 would stay dectable for longer would it not?

Hep C isn't great at transmitting female to male anyway is it, is it not more of blood-borne pathogen?

Ive read the forum. I havent displayed any symptoms of hep c as such. Although I know symptoms are unreliable again.

Am I reading too much between the lines here? I expect the 3 month window possibly takes into consideration variables such as this- hence the buffer?

As I said, absolute final post. I wont even reply. I truly appreciate this and do not want to take the pi** when you have politley me asked not to repost.

All the best to you Dr Hook. To you I quote Albert Einstein- bet he could cure HIV:

Only a life lived for others is worth living."
-- Albert Einstein

And to all worried wells:

Remember that there is nothing stable in human affairs; therefore avoid undue elation in prosperity, or undue depression in adversity.

Hi Edward,

I am really sorry if I offended you. Indeed, I value yours and doctor hooks opinions equally. And I respect and trust you both enquivocally. I am trully sorry if my title offended.

I dont have the money to post another tihng in the HIV forum.

So you are absolutley certain I am ok? There is no way I can be + now? I know I sound ridiculous.

Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum.  You got me.  FYI, the reason we share the forum is because we have worked together for nearly 30 years and while our verbiage styles vary, we have never disagreed on management strategies or advice to clients. In addition, you have posted on the wrong site.   Questions about HIV belong on the HIV prevention site.  I will do my best to answer your questions with this reply but, if you have additional questions or follow-up they must be on the HIV Prevention site.  Sorry

Your test proves that you do not have HIV.  The DUO test is highly accurate.

Your swollen lymph nodes are a non-specific finding.  There are many other illnesses which can cause lymph node swelling.  Swollen lymph nodes are a non-specific response to any number of stimuli including infections due to bacteria and viruses, allergic reactions and autoimmune disease.  Of all persons with swollen lymph nodes only a tiny proportion of them have HIV.  If you are concerned about swollen lymph nodes, the proper place to get evaluated is with a good internal medicine physician as you have been doing.

Finally, in women vaginal yeast infections are a chance event and that  your wife has a yeast infection does not suggest that you have HIV either.

I hope these comments are helpful to you.  You do not have HIV. Your tests prove this and you do not need further testing.  EWH
