DR HHH PLEASE ANSWER

First of all Happy New Year....When I was in my 20's I got oral herpes. I remember my daughter had it to weeks before. I had bad opne sores with pus and it enable to eat for sometimes. When I was a kid I would get open sores on the roof of my mouth. They would come and go and the roof of my mouth would always itch. Well its been over 6 years since it last happen. Last week I went to a massage parlor and the asian lady was materbating me and in the heat of the moment I pulled her underwear off and started to go down on her clit. I was down there for like ten minutes. I didn't see any sores or warts down there. Well 7 days later I have little bumps on the roof of my mouth (inside my mouth). They don't really bother me, but that the only location where I feel tiny bumps and they are sore. I have this open cut that's about two inches and its round. I use to get bad allergies inside my mouth and I use to rub my toungue on it to make it stop itching. I've had it for years now, but now its sore and its bothering me as I eat. Could one oral exposure have caused me Herpes 2 or make my old herpes comeback. It was only one exposure. I know this an std forum, but would that cause me to increase my chances of hiv? I've been coughing and I been congested could that be the reason for all this. I know sometimes herpes brings on fevers, but I haven't had anything. Is this something that can change my lifestyle because I have a girlfriend who I haven't been intimate with and I do not want to give her something. So its one open sore and the miniscule scabs on the inside of my mouth (roof)....Should I worry?

Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum.  You got me again.  FYI, the reason we share the forum is because we have worked together for nearly 30 years and while our verbiage styles vary, we have never disagreed on management strategies or advice to clients.  In addition, this appears to be the 3rd question you have asked in the past 6 months.  We ask clients to post no more that 2 questions to our Forums over any 6 month period in order to allow others to have access to the limited numbers of slots available for answering questions.  I will answer this question but after that, no more and no follow-ups please.

You have several alternate explanations for the sores on your mouth including what sound like canker sores (which are not infectious), your food allergies and your HSV-1 infection. When these possibilities are combined with fact that it is unusual (but not impossible) to get HSV of the mouth and the location of your outbreak involving the inside of the mouth but not the lips, it is very unlikely that the sores on the inside of your mouth are HSV-2.  In addition to the possibilities that I've already mentioned, another possibility is that you have acquired another non-STD virus which is causing your sore throat.  Given the circumstances, it is unlikely that your mouth lesions are due to HSV.  As to what might be going on, that is harder to say.  My advice is to try not to worry about it.,.  If the soreness is making you uncomfortable, you may want to see your own doctor but there is no reason to worry about HSV-2.  EWH
