Herpes??? HIV???

Doctor, I've included my entire history below... Could this be either Herpes or HIV?

I received oral sex from a sex worker. she briefly stroked my penis, put a condom on it and gave me oral.    At 21 days I took a PCR/DNA (negative), at 9 and 13 weeks I took a HomeAccess (2nd GEN) home HIV test with negative results. At week 11, my sacrum started itching a lot and felt hot, it was red. Nothing on my penis and no pain or blisters. Just a red thin line that formed between both my thigh folds that was irritating. Didn't hurt, just bothered when I walked and the skin between my thighs rubbed together. Visited a doctor. She told me it might be yeast. She gave me a prescription cream for yeast. With the exception of the irritation between my thighs fold the cream seemed to work. 3 days later my sacrum got most of its color back and the itch pretty much stopped with the exception of an occasional isolated itch under my sacrum.  When I ran out of the cream I started using Lotrimen and it relieved the irritation between my thighs fold.  Week 14, I still had a slight irritation between both my thighs crest - At this point, my penis started feeling irritated, a red rash appeared on the tip of the penis. I went to another doctor and asked her if it was Herpes. She said it didn't look like it and that she believed it was yeast, gave me another cream. I applied it to the tip of the penis and the red went away about 12 hours later. Never any pain or blisters/ulcers anywhere. Week 15, the crest between my thighs are still sensitive, my sacrum still has a little red towards bottom and this morning the head of my penis seemed red and felt irritated (no pain at all). I did use the anti-fungal cream on my penis the night before, so I'm hoping it was irritated by that - I decided to stop using the cream. I've never had a favor or flu like symptoms. Besides my psychological anxiety, something is wrong since my thighs are irritated and my penis feels funny.

Welcome to the Forum. It is (past) time for you to stop worrying.  The exposures you describe did not put you at risk for HIV and your risk for HSV was very, very low.

Your blood tests, absolutely prove that you did not get HIV from the no risk exposure that you described.

As for your scrotum (at least I presume you mean your scrotum, not your sacrum which is your tailbone), as I read your description I came to the same conclusion that your doctor did, that the rashes and irritation your describe are a combination of chaffing and possibly yeast. The location, appearance and time course of the lesions you describe in no way suggests HSV.  On the other hand, yeast infections ("jock itch") can appear exactly as you describe and can sometimes be difficult to treat.  The location of your primary rash, between your thighs and scrotum is a common place for yeast infections.  In addition, if you have gained weight, begun to work or more, or just sweat more as warmer weather has come on, you are more vulnerable to yeast infections. Sometimes synthetic undergarments or shorts can also predispose to chaffing and yeast infections.

Please put your mind at risk.  You do not have HIV and you do not have HSV. You may need to work with your doctor to resolve this but do not worry about herpes.

I hope my comments are helpful to you. EWH

Dr. Hook , thank you so much for your quick and reassuring reply. I have been going through a serious guilt induced anxiety/depression. After my infraction I got hooked on HIV, took test 3/6/9/13/PCR-DNA 21 days. Interesting was that besides some white on my tongue I haven’t had any real symptoms, yet my mind played games with me. Just when I was getting over the anxiety (I lost 10 lbs in past 2 months – lost of appetite, slept all day, lost of energy, etc) the yeast/jock hit me. Just when that was slowly clearing up, my penis got red at the base of the tip. So logically the next thing that I worried about was HERPES. The good thing is that my rash hasn’t followed any of the HERPES common symptoms. Even the red on the tip (opening) of my penis goes away and comes back and the main symptoms has been bothering me for over 2 months, but started getting better with anti-fungal cream (interesting enough, the tip of my penis started getting red when I started using a lot of the AF stuff). As for my scrotum, it gets red, then back to normal color and red again (normally when it’s hot). The itching has since stopped.  I was going to do a final 15 week HIV test, just to make sure that my anxiety attacks didn’t lower my immune system so much that it would affect the test I took before. Again, thanks.

One more thing - my sacrum gets read and saggy and goes back to normal.... Tip of penis gets a little red and back to normal color.... This is becoming a rollor coaster and my anxiety along with it... Help please... The only thing that is constant is that I have no pain and the irritation between my thighs (creast). I'm thinkning it's HERPES.... Just don't know.... The fungal cream does make it better, just won't go away.... All in all, these symptoms have been bothering me for over 2 months.
