STD Question - Chlamydia

I had a one night stand with a girl after breaking up with my GF.

I had unprotected sex lasted for about 1 minute, then I came to my senses and decided against going on due to the risk (which I should have in the first place) and we continued on with just oral sex until completion.

About 2 weeks later, I was getting a little worried thinking about it.  I started to feel a little bit of a weird sensation when I was urinating, however it was very light, and not a painful burning at all.  I would describe it as a very light burning, and then it would stay that way for 5-10 minutes later.

As well, I had drank a lot the past few nights for celebratory reasons, so I was quite dehydrated, and my urine was a fairly bold yellow colour which made me believe it was very acidic due to me being dehydrated.

About 2-3 days later, I drank a lot of water, urinated a lot and the symptoms cleared up completely.

My questions are:

1)  What is the likelihood of transmitting an STD while having unprotected sex for such a brief period of time ? (Does that matter at all ?, or is it just contact that causes it)

2)  After researching on line, it was Chlamydia that came to mind, or possibly Gonnorrhea.  What are the chances I would have transmitted this diseases given the brief sexual encounter ?

3)  Would the symptoms just come for a short day or two then dissapear completely ?

4)  I also heard testicular pain could come about, and although they feel slightly tender, it is not remotely painful (it may just be a mental thing).

I am getting back together with my GF, and I just wanted to make sure I would not give anything to her, and I want to get treated if neccesary.  I decided to try this first instead of testing just to get an idea.  Again this is about 4-5 weeks total after the sexual encounter, and my symptoms have pretty much cleared up completely, any feeling down there is very very minor, and I believe it to be mental more than anything.

Some men with highly concentrated urine can feel a "hot" sensation when voiding.

Thanks a lot for your help,

I kinda of thought that was the case, and I will likely follow up just to be sure.

The urine colour wasn't so much to confirm an STD symptom, it was more just wondering whether this could also irritate your penis slightly if you were very dehydrated.  But I will let you stick to your specialty which are STD's

Thanks for your help

I'll go straight to your questions.

1) There are no data to predict your risk of acquiring an STD in this situation.  Clearly less than for more prolonged intercourse, and oral sex is inherently less risky for all STDs than vaginal sex.  Of course the risk also depends on the likelihood your casual partner was infected, but you say nothing about her sexual lifestyle to predict that risk.

2) Your symptoms don't really suggest any STD; they simply are too vague.  Most men with symptoms due to gonorrhea or chlamydia primarily notice abnormal discharge of pus or mucus from the penis.  Although urinary discomfort can be a symptom, usually it is along with discharge. Gonorrhea is particularly unlikely; the large majority of cases cause over dripping of pus from the penis that begins 2-5 days after exposure.  No STD causes variations in urine color.

3) Intermittent symptoms are possible but unlikely.

4) The vague sort of testicular pain you describe also does not suggest any STD.

All in all, your risk is low and I doubt you have any STD, or anything else that is related to your casual sexual encounter -- except that most of your symptoms are very typical for genitally focused anxiety, which is common in people who are worried, anxious, or guilty about sexual indiscretions.

The way to sort this out is to see a health care provider for STD testing.  You can expect negative results, but better safe than sorry.

I hope this helps. Best wishes--  HHH, MD
