Dull Pain after Oral Sex

Hello-

I am a 36 year old male. received protected oral sex (wore a condom the whole time for the brief encounter of 3-5min max) about 20 days ago. From reading the forum, I understand that my chances of getting an STD are low, and have not been too troubled by this random experience as I have had no symptoms that would lead me to believe I had caught anything. No pain or discharge when urinating, or anything else...

However, starting around 15 days after receiving the oral sex, I have had a dull aching pain in my lower right back, that radiates to my groin area.. My right testicle sometimes feels like it aches too, but there is no pain when I touch it. This pain comes and goes, and is never sharp-- just a dull ache. That testicle has always been slightly larger than the other, but it might seem slightly swollen now... or I am just freaking out... hard to tell at this point.

I do not recall any physical trauma to my testicles or to my lower back.

I have read that testicular pain can be a symptom of ghonorreah- yet I am unclear if it could be present without other symptoms.

Again, I do understand that my risks are low, but could this be a sign of an STD?

Thank you.

Thanks, Doctor-- You have put my mind at ease! As much as I tried to be logical, worry and stress can get the better of me... Human nature I guess.  Enjoy your day- you have made mine better.

This is not a sign of STD and you do not need STD testing.  Pain of this sort can, rarely, be due to kidney problems, prostate problems (not STD-related) or the sorts of back strains which seem to occur randomly.  Most of these pains however are continuous or increase in intensity, not come and go.  On the other hand, when people are focused on such things, they can sometimes have the sorts of discomfort you describe.  My guess it is not something to worry about.  If it gets worse or becomes more persistent, you might want to get it checked out but, even then, there is little reason to be worried about STD.  EWH
