Question

I unfortunately had one unprotected oral episode (I received from another male). Three days after the episode, I panic and saw my PCP. He took a swab, urine test and prescribed 400mg of oral Suprax and 1g of azithromycin. Test for gonnorea and clamindia came back neg. I am about concerned by syphilis. I noticed an elevated bump on my penis, no redness or pain. Would the medication I took cure syphilis?

Welcome to the Forum.  The major STDs which peole get from receipt of oral sex are NGU and gonorrhea, as well as occasionally herpes if partners have oral herpes.  There are a few reports of people who have gotten syphilis through receipt of oral sex but it is very, very rare.  Furthermore, the medications you received would prevent development of syphilis if you ahd been concerned.  Thus, syphilis is not a concern - you do not need to worry or to have testing at this time.

Hope this helps. EWH

I repeat- if you were exposed to syphilis in the events you describe, the medications you received would prevent development of infection.  EWH

Thank you for your response.  Even with syphilis transmission by oral exceedingly rare, what is the efficacy of treatment of syphilis with 400mg Suprax and 1gr azithromycin? I just want to be sure that by rare chance I acquired syphilis, the medication would have eradicated it.
