HPV/Wart Reoccurance

Thank you Doctors for your continous insight.

I had a wart removed April 2007 that was midway up the penis shaft.  It took two visits to clear but haven't had any signs since.  Recently after trimming my pubic hair I noticed a "wart-like" bump about 1/2 in. superior the base of my penis in the pubic region.  I usually keep a close eye due to my past and this was the first time I noticed it.  I haven't scheduled an appointment yet but from my experience with the other wart I'm afraid it looks very similar (nothing like red bumps, pimples, etc.).  I've read some of the postings saying that warts rarely show up in the pubic region.  As usual, I know I need to have a doctor look at it but wanted to get your opinion on whether or not you feel this could be a reoccurance.  I haven't been with anyone else since my treatment and its been over 2 1/2 years since probably my "first" exposure.

1.  Do you feel that this could be a reoccurrance after so long or something else?

2.  Is it rare to have a wart on the penis shaft and then later another one so far away?

I'm a 30 year old healthy male. Non-smoker with no other ailments.  Also had my last HIV test 3 months ago which was negative.

Thanks.

Thank you for your prompt response.  I understand that a diagnosis cannot be made over the internet and that I should have my doctor check it out.  I appreciate the information though.  I can only believe that either its not a wart or it was too small to be noticed by me or my provider at the time of my last visit a year ago.  Am I correct in that the location is rare for a wart from your experience?

Thank you again for your time.  I will make an appointment to have it checked out.

It is impossible to make a diagnosis of warts over the internet.  You will need to wait for the opinion of your health care provider.  A few, possibly relevant points however.  Following resolution, if warts are going to recur, they typically recur, at the same spot, within 6 months of their resolution.  For you to have a recurrence after this long would be most unusual  If it is a wart it is not the result of spread from the site of your earlier infection but either a long standing infection you've missed before or a new infection.  Hope this helps.  EWH
