Likelyhood of a herpes or HPV infection from recent oral

Last night I swapped unprotected oral sex with another man. He did not appear to have any signs of herpes but I know you can still become infected even when there is no visible outbreak. The oral lasted less than a minute for each of us and there was no ejaculation. He never even got fully hard during the 20sec or so when I was giving him oral. There was no other unprotected contact besides the very short oral (no kissing, etc.)

I have never had a random hook up like that before and so I am losing sleep and panicking myself about this little slip up in what has otherwise been a 100% safe sex life. Obviously nothing like this will ever happen again, I just wanted an expert opinion on what the likely hood of contracting herpes or HPV or other STDs from a very very short instance of oral where there was no ejaculation.

I have since called him and and confirmed with him several times that he is clean. He assured me he is 100% sure he is clean, but you can't really trust people on their word.

Thanks in advance. I see from reading all of the other posts on here that it seems like my chances are low but I wanted an opinion on my exact situation.

Welcome to the Forum. Your risk of any STD from this encounter is low.  Your partner said he did not have STs and most people tell the truth. In addition, the short duration of the encounter is also in your favor.  Even if your partner did have any of the infections I mention below, it is important to remember that far less than half of exposures to infected partners (an again, it is unlikely your partner was infected) lead to transmission of infection.

Oral sex (giving or receiving) is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  In giving oral sex your only risk is for oral gonorrhea and the likelihood of that is quite low.

As for receipt of oral sex, of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you will most likely develop symptoms (discharge, burning on urination)of urethritis (penile infection) within 3-5 days of exposure.   I would urge you not to worry. If you must, you could go to your local STD clinic or health care provider to be tested at this time.  I anticipate that the tests will be negative,  EWH

In the absence of lesions, your risk of a false positive blood test is higher than your risk of having HSV.  I recommend against it.  If your choose to get tested, it can take 3-6 months for everyone who is infected to develop positive tests.  EWH

Thank you so much. I do tend to over react sometimes. Thanks again for taking the time to help me through this.

This needs to end. You are over reacting.  Get a grip on yourself.

Herpes lesions will not appear until at least 3-4 days following exposure.  EWH

Also I forgot to mention that this morning (not even a full 24 hrs since the encounter) I noticed a small whitish colored pimple, very very tiny and hard to see, near the base of the tip of my penis. It is a little sore but I think I am just over analyzing it and thinking about it.

There is no way for herpes (or any STDs) to show signs that quickly right? I think I may have had a pimple on my penis like this in the past and it just went away.

Thank you very much, you lifted a load off of my back, seriously. I was pulling my hair out going crazy over this. I am glad to hear an expert speak about this and reassure me that the short encounter plus the fact that is was only oral make my chances very low. I a lot of other random people on the internet sound the alarm and say you have herpes for sure if you had unprotected sex at all with anyone due to the fact that oral HSV1 is very common in adults.

Thanks again and this type of thing will never happen again. I may still go get tested but isn't there an incubation period of like 3 months or something for HSV1 or 2 to show up in a test?
