NSU am I contagious

Well im married and had sex with another female 4 months ago. We had sex on a sunday(unprotected viginal and oral). About 2-3 days later the head of my penis started burning. My wife and I had sex about 3 times that same sunday. Also the following days until the sypmtoms showed up. We had sex again the night when my symptoms first showed up. I went to get tested the next day on wednesday. Got results all negative except hsv1. So my wife went to get tested friday(so 6 days after I had contact and 3 days after my sypmtoms started). Her results also came back negative except hsv1. I had four urine samples done and all nothing was found. My symptoms have been burning and pain inside penis(no discharge). Was told I have nsu. The uroligist said he has no reason to believe im contagious and it should go away on its own. Took meds Doxycycline, cipro, azithromycin nothing cleared completely.

1. I read nsu is most likely caused by chlamydia if my wife tested 6 days after my contact would it show up on test and how accurate is test after 6 days?

2. Also my wife has said her vigina has had a strong smell(not fishy) is that a sign of chlamydia? I did give her oral sex last night and it smelled clean. The bad smell lasted a few weeks and went away.

3. My wife has been getting a rash small itchy red bumps(rash) around her neck and upper chest is this a sign of hiv she has no other sypmtoms.

4. I tested for hiv after 3 months and I believe it came back negative because I called for results and was told everything came back normal does that mean negative they would have told me right away right?

5. Can my wife get nsu?(it's been 4 months things have got better but not completely)

6. Will it really go away on it's own?

7. I never had any discharge just pain inside penis can this be something else besides nsu?

Abnormal urine odor is not a sign of any STD.  You need to move on and put this all behind you.

Onr last thing is that my urine had benn smelling strong or bad what can that be?

As I already told you, while it is recommended that partners be treated, the value of treating partners of non-chlamyial NSU is unknown- there are no studies.  

I have also already told you that chlamydial infection is not a reasonable possiblity given your treatment and test results.

You need to look elsewhere for the cause of your symptoms.  EWH

If i got treated even though nothing found in urine test why would my partnetneed to treat also. If this is anixety what can i do to stop worrying. Si if my wife tested negative after 6 days how sure can i be that she dies nit have clahmydia. I alsi forgot to add th add that even with treatment i think this infection reached my prostate. I say this because i felt pain behind my scrotom and used to have discomfort when sitting. The uroligist told me to piunt out on a diagram where pain is coming from turned out to be musle.

Thanks for the clarification.  The timing of the sex does not change my recommendations.

Further, intermittent buring/pain is not a sign of a typical STD.  I would not worry about STDs relating to this exposure at this time.  EWH

I had sex with my wife the same day I had sex with other female. Also had sex the same night my symptoms started.

The burning is not with urination it's off and on. Just sometimes after I urinate.  Somedays I'll feel fine and others I feel burning inside my penis. Also when this all started my urine output was slow and sometimes I would have to push to be able to urinate.

Welcome to the Forum.  Your description is a bit difficult to follow so let me be sure that I have the timeline of events correct.  You had unprotected sex with a partner outside of your marriage and then had sex with your wife before, as well as on the day you developed symptoms.  Both you (repeatedly) and your wife have been tested for STDs and these tests were negative. Nonetheless, you have been treated with azithromycin, cipro, and doxycycline without relief of your continuing symptoms which are burning urethral pain (is this present all of the time, during urination only, or some other time?).

First a comment.  It is not clear to me that you have NSU.  NSU is diagnosed through testing of a swab specimen from the urethra an/or demonstration of a urethral discharge which is something you do not report.  I would also add that while chlamydia is an important cause of NSU, it does not cause all, or even most NSU.  Having said that, I should also point out that the antibiotics you have received are the recommended therapy for NSU but that it is recommended that the sex partners of person with NSU be treated with the same medications as their partners- whether this is important or helps the outcome of NSU not caused by chlamydia is unknown.

Let's now work through your specific questions and I will have a few additional comments:

See above. The accuracy of current tests for chlamydia is excellent.  You should believe both your and your wife's tests- neither of you had chlamydia following the episode you describe.

No, most chlamydia infections are asymptomatic and odor has never been described as a symptom of chlamydial infection.  Odor can be a sign of a problem called bacterial vaginosis which is not an STD.  I will have no further comments on your wife's health however- if she has a problem she should see her own doctor.

See above.  In this situation, this is not a sign of STD however, including HIV.  Again, if your wife has a problem she should discuss it with her own doctor.

Yes, this means you do not have HIV.  he would have told you if you did.

No, women o not get NSU and not with your negative tests.  Again, if she has a question about her health she shoul see her own doctor.

It does not sound like you have NSU.  I suspect that your symptoms will go away on their own if you can stop worrying about them.

Pain inside the penis without a discharge, rash or other findings is unlikely to be an STD. It may be a manifestation of your anxiety.  I suggest you work to believe your tests and move forward from here.  EWH
