Penile pain

Dr. thanks for all of the great advice/help that you provide.
My problem/story: unprotected oral sex for a short period of time (3mins) 9/12 weeks ago. stripper with no visible oral sores. Initially (1-2weeks) had prostate pain/frequent urination. 2weeks after incident had swab for gono/chlmydia (negative) (given cipro anyway at that time for 10 days), recently repeated swabs(neg). one month (27 days after incident)later had blood drawn, tested for sphyillis & HSVII IGG (both neg) don't know what type of igg test was done, doctor just wrote igg HSVII. The reason for the HSV test is because I have pretty intense pain/buring on certain areas of my penis (top of head, top of left side just below the head in the ring area), this pain was there for a week (3 weeks after incident) kind of went away and now again for the past 3 weeks has been hurting/burning. blisters do not form and the pain persists. It is real and I would not be able to masturbate or have sex because of this pain (last masturbated > 3 weeks ago). I really wanted to believe that it was in my head but the pain is real and I feel the anal tingling and some right back of leg pain. I will go back for another igg at 3 mons. Dr. has looked at it 2-3 times as does not think its herpes. I've never had pain in my penis for 3 weeks straight. something is going on and herpes seems to fit (other than no blisters): burning pain, leg pain, anal tingling/burning. I should also mention that I've had cold sores since I was a child which is why I didn'y get hsvI tested.
Please advise. thanks.

These initial words are responding only to the title you chose for this thread: Pain in the penis, by itself, is not a symptom of any STD.

OK, now I'll go ahead and read your question(s)....

Guess what?  No STD explains your symptoms, herpes or anything else.  I see no reason for another HSV blood test.  Your riks for herpes was extremely low anyway.  Follow your provider's advice; he clearly is on the right track and you are not.  And you are simply wrong to believe that '...burning pain, leg pain, anal tingling/burning' are symptoms of herpes.  The symptoms you describe are consistent with herpes only if and when the accompany typical herpes blisters and sore.  By themselves, no way.

You seem to think that because 'the pain is real' and prevents you from having sex or masturbating that somehow that means it does not have an emotional origin. Where did you get that idea??

'Please advise'?  Follow your provider's advice.  Forget herpes; it does not explain your symptoms.  Genitally focused anxiety is an excellent possibility, though.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

You have gonorrhea.  See a health care provider right away; if you don't have a doctor, visit your local health department STD clinic.

Your question is a thread jump, so no further discussion.

Not sure how many people come back to say that "you were correct" but in my case you were.
Just got a second HSV II & syph test back (10 weeks) both negative.
This event has caused me to look into what could possibly be an anxiety problem. so for that I should be thankful.
Of course thanks to you dr. and your time and effort with this helpful sight.

Hey, I told you that you don't have herpes.  Accept the good news and move on.  Herpes simply is not the cause of your symptoms, end of story.  See a health care provider if your symptoms persist and you remain concerned.

Dr.
Also, I had a lip cold sore at the time of all this, they usually stick around for more than 2 weeks. does that indicate anything regarding my penis irritaion/pain/burning that has persisted for over 3 weeks now?

Could you respond to this and the above? thanks.

Dr. your words are very helpful. I know that my story is something you hear every day and I appreciate you patience and directness.
I''ve just never been in pain like this before and have often heard/read that a large percentage of people with herpes do not know that they have it because they do not have typical sores. The skin on specific areas of my penis burn and are very sensitive, walking or sitting it feels like sandpaper is rubbing up against it. those areas look slightly red at times (almost like an allergic response) pretty much 3 weeks I have been feeling this (off and on). This probably does not change your response once.
Also, does a neg HSV igg 4 weeks give some useful information?
is a 3 month test warranted?
Thanks again. I will not cont after this.
