Have i got STD (could it be HIV or Herpes) if not what could it be?

Ok I had unprotected sex with a female just over six weeks ago. Lasted for 10 mins and did not ejaculate inside. I started getting a burning feeling in the tip of my penis after 5 days. Felt like I always needed to urinate. Also noticed most of my penis shaft was discoloured like I had a tan in most parts. Went and had STD tests done 9 days after exposure. Was give Doxy for a week to take just in-case. Results all came back negative. My slight burning feeling started to get a bit worse and then I started getting a burning feeling in my scrotum and inner tights. This was around 2-3 weeks. Also a vibrating feeling in the end of my penis started to come and go. (Felt like my phone was ringing in my pants) so I was now worried about herpes. So I went back at 3-4 weeks to be checked and tested. The doctor said it was very unlikely herpes as I had no sores. (I did say I think I have some very very small red sores inside my shaft/opening at the top) He said they were nothing. The pain in the tip and the need to wee was still here. Whet back 6 days later and was told I had herpes 1 from a Igg test and was given Ani viral to take for 5 days. I still had the same problems and was getting anxiety over it all. I then started with a sore throat at 4 weeks and still have it now at 6 weeks mark. It's like a burning feeling in the throat. Nothing else I've not had flu symptoms or anything else. I then got concerned it could be HIV I got tested for this and sythilis at 5 weeks and 3 days after potential exposure. My anxiety was really bad now. The 4th generation test results came back negative. So here I am 6 weeks in with the same issue in my penis (burning and always needing a wee and very very small red dots inside my shaft. A burning sore throat and discolouration in my skin colour on my penis, like it is sun tanned)
Have you got any ideas what this could be.

Our results are individualized to our patients and their histories.  For you a 5 week syphilis test is fine.

A sore throat is not suggestive of any STI.  It is too late to be a manifestation of recent HIV and oral gonorrhea does not cause symptoms.

Our time and space for follow-up comments is limited. This thread will need to end now.  Take care. EWH

Hi Dr Hook. I still have this burning sore throat. (Been nearly 3 weeks now) been taking penicillin but it has had no effect 5 days from taken them. Back of my throat has lots of white blotches on it. Again I don't feel tied or particularly sick but my throat is on fire none stop. Any idea what it might be. ( concerning me due to my std exposure 7 weeks ago now. Could a sore throat like this starting 4 weeks after exposure be down to any std's? I didn't give or receive oral, only partial kissing)

I see you said on another post its best to wait 2 months for a sythilis test. Shall I do that at 8 weeks or is the test at 5 weeks and 3 days good enough ? Meaning I don't need to re test at 8 weeks ???

Tonsilitis is not a sign of HIV.  There is no need for additional testing.  EWH

Hi Dr Hook, my GP had told me I have tonsillitis. Is this anything to worry about regarding HIV? Should I text again as it's just over 7 weeks now? Or is my negative at 5 weeks and 3 days conclusive. I've had this problem with my throat for two weeks now.

1. is my 4th generation negative HIV and Sythilis results at 5 weeks and 3 days conclusive?
Yes.

2. Are Chlamydia / Gono negative results conclusive after 9 days?
Yes

3. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow, should I ask to see a specialist regarding fungal infections?
I would first ask your GP to look at the spots on your penis.  If he feels it is a fungus, he should outline a plan of treatment and follow-up or refer you to a dermatologist.

4. Finally can the medication I'm on cause throat issues? I am still on acyclovir twice a day (suppressive treatment). It has been sore (burning feeling around tonsils) for 2 weeks now.
No, it would be most unusual for acyclovir to irritate your throat.  Again, i would ask you doctor and would not be concerned that this is an STI fo any sort, including HIV.EWH

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to comment.  I doubt that you acquired any STI from your exposure.  I probably would not have given you doxycycline and certainly would not have given you acyclovir.  There is no evidence that you acquired HSV from your exposure.  Had your symptoms been due to herpes, you would have developed lesions in the symptomatic areas and they would have run their course in less than three weeks.  Rather, I believe that your concerns about possible STI reflect your increased attention to the possibility of symptoms and because of this, awareness of normal sensations we people typically overlooked.  My sincere advice is to not worry further and to do your best to move forward without concern.  Part of moving forward is to avoid repeatedly examining yourself.  To do so is traumatic and can actually create abnormalities.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH
