How long does Herpes outbreak last?

I am very concern about my herpes breakout this time it has last longer than any other breakout. It has last a month how long does a break normally last? It will clear up and spread somewhere else.I have had it in my nose twice with in this month inside my things,  and i have never feel like i pulled a muscle in my leg i feel a lump in my back thing. I had been working out in the gym i thought that may have been the reason, and i have had break out in the genital area seems like it jumps from the getial area to the thing.I have been using a antitbiotic omintent. one place will heal and another will breakout. Is this normal? What if you had sex with someone who may have it and you didn't know for sure; could that cause this break out to be worst than any others at the time we had sex i had no symptom. I found out i had herpes about 20years ago. and it has never last this long. seems like when i think it is gone it comes back.

Can using the same soap spread herpes to someone else?

I get so frustrated when I read or hear people, especially doctors say that herpes outbreaks do not last "x amount of time long" or that if there are no blister/lesions it is NOT herpes....That is so insane and based on outdated information. I have HSV2 and have had it almost 2 years and in this time I have NEVER had a blister/lesion or anything of the sort that many doctors would classify as herpes. I get a rash appearing in the top part of the pubic hair region.....very itchy, occurs all the time. It is the miseducation and misinformation of the general public and physicians (who I truly believe think what they are informing is true) that causes this virus to keep on spreading like wildfire. Read the current statistics on herpes......you dont need an outbreak, a typical sore, or any type of lesion to be present to give or contract this virus. Most people have symptoms so mild that they (and their own doctors) often dismiss them as being caused by something else....or "there's no way it could be herpes" when in fact it is in many cases and people are given false security when it comes to this...which just perpetuates the spread unkowingly so much of the time. Ive had doctors who would not even test me for herpes based on my symptoms and said "it was not necessary and that herpes "doesnt look like that"........well thank god after a few responses like that from doctors, I did not accept those answers and good thing I didnt. I finally had my obgyn be smart enough to test for herpes via type specific blood test, even though she thought it "did not look like herpes" but wanted to do it as a precaution. Thankfully she was smart enough to know that just because it doesnt look like the classic picture people have in their minds of what herpes looks like, she tested me anyway. Guess what....positive for HSV2. Not what I could have ever imagined but I thank my lucky stars I had someone who knew what they were doing. want a good site....where you can hear hundreds of stories of outbreaks of herpes WITHOUT classic text book symptoms?  type in herpes support forum on google and it is herpes/coldsores support forum powered by VBulletin. Great site.......tons of real life people who will tell you the truth about herpes because they are living with it. While many get classic symptoms...over half of people with herpes do NOT. I just cant stand the ignorance when it comes to this...that is how I got this...in a 3 year monogamous relationship where my partner NEVER had a single blister/lesion, or symptom for that matter. It is so much easier to get than anyone who does not have it realizes. I just want to get the word out for people to get educated, get the current statistics and info. out there and perhaps save a few people from going through what I have had to go through. Sorry to ramble but the miseducation and misunderstanding of this virus is what keeps it spreading. Hopefully you do not have it, but please get educated for the future, even if you dont have it. Tons of info. out there!

I'm no expert but this does not sound like a herpes outbreak - especially not a recurrent one.

I cannot say whether your original herpes diagnosis was accurate or not.  But what you describe now clearly is not herpes, which does not last this long and doesn't jump around to various body sites.  Having sex doesn't trigger herpes outbreaks or make them worse.  See a health care provider to find out what's going on.

Good luck---  HHH, MD
