bumps on penis

Hi Dr hook & Dr. HHH
I have some questions. You can see from earlier posts that I worry about stds, and I know the 2 post rules for 6months and I will respect that. over the last 2 months Ive been getting these small bumps and shiny dots on my penis not big maybe .5mm-1.5mm sometimes there red sometimes there skin colored Ive been to my GP and to the dermatolgist (3 times) in the past 3 months. They both feel its not STD or herpes for that matter. He started me on locoid for 2 weeks then put me on protopic 0.03% for the last 5 weeks I was there ago and he thinks its dermitis, I was there yesterday again and right after looking at it he assured me and made it clear he didnt think it was an std. its on top of the shaft from the circumsion scar to the glands and a litte on the head like a 1.5"x1.5" area he gave me triple paste AF yesterday and said to continue the protopic to see what happens. can I get your thoughts on this Im worried.

If your focus is the "bumps" you should work with the dermatologist.  On the other hand if your concern is the swollen lymph nodes (whihc are a non-specific finding and could be due to just about anything, up to and including athelete's foot), then you should work with your internist.

Either way, the symptoms you describe do not suggest any STD. EWH

Thanks Dr Hook, I can agree with you. I didnt notice I have a swollen lymth node in groin, right in the crese of my leg and penis. I been on protopic ointment for over a month and the rash seems to be worst. I have peeling circle  patches of skin and I get random tingling in my hamstrings and testicles. Im not sure what to do. I know some of it worry but something real is there. I just want some assurance that its not herpes or any std and make sure there isnt something else outside of an std wrong. Should I call my I.M dr and go for a check up or should I call the dermatoglist. please advise your advice is very helpful and comforting

Welcome back to the Forum.  I'm sorry that you are continuing to worry so much about STDs your past sexual encounters.  The lesions you describe really do not sound at all like an STD of any sort.  I cannot offer you an alternative diagnosis over the internet and would defer to the opinion of your GP and the dermatologist who has examined you on three separate occasions.  It is not uncommon to have to engage in a certain amount of trial and error to sort out dermatologic processes.

My concern is that your guilt over your past exposures has left you shamed and so worried that you are examining yourself again and again and "discovering" skin abnormalities that are not dangerous or problematic.  A problem with this sort of approach is that may lead head care professionals to "try" therapies which put you at risk for other problems such as side effects.  I urge you to work with your dermatologist and to seek counseling over your worries about STDs.  I say this out of concern, nothing more.

I hope this assessment is helpful.  EWH
