Little red bumps

Hi all,

This last Sunday I found some red bumps on my penis' head, they kinda look like small red bumps. I got worried so I went to the doctor. He said that it might be an STD but he isn't sure. I tested for everything except for Herpes I & II and  Candida, since I didn't have any secretions. The tests came back negative. (syphilis, gonorrhea& HIV) The doctor then prescribed some cream and an antibiotic. I will buy these today and check it for 7 days and see what's going on.

My concern is could this be an STD? Even if the tests came back negative? I'm really worried still since today they look more than what they were. On Monday morning they were almost gone but now they're back. What should I do?

Your symptoms do not sound like an STD, and if you tested negative, you should not worry about it too much. You could have a yeast infection; an antibiotic won't help this. You need to use an antifungal cream like monistat (made for female yeast infection but works for guys as well). Try using a penis health creme on a daily basis to help soothe and prevent irritation that can also cause a red rash.

I think using the cream is a good idea, and if you are going to read on the internet, keep it limited to good sources.  www.ashastd.org is one, webmd is also good, the CDC's site is good, etc.  Anyone can create a website, so make sure its a reputable source, ok?

OK, here's how the complete story goes:

I went to the Clinic and the first doctor told me I HAD Herpes, I was thinking my life was over. Then he said well it could be Chlamydia, Candida or Syphilis then I got even more worried since he didn't really tell me what I had and left me really depressed. He said to come back in the morning to take some tests.

So, I did. Another doctor was there, he was much older around his fifties. He checked me again and he said that the symptoms that I had aren't related to what the other doctor said. He took the Herpes tests off from the sheet and then told me to take the other ones. So... I did... and they came back negative in the afternoon. So.. I go to the clinic and the doctor that was there told me to put that cream on and take some allergy pills.

I just bought the cream and the pills I'm going to try them out for 7 days like he said and see what happens. I have the tests with me I can post them too. He also said that I should stop reading stuff on the internet or I will get very paranoid.. but I doubt it I rather be informed than ignorant.

I would really appreciate the help thanks!

There is a herpes blood test, and you don't need to have any symptoms to have it.  Make sure its a type specific IgG herpes blood test.  Did your doctor culture this spot?

I just read that a true test should be done in 8 weeks for Herpes... and well I had intercourse about 4 weeks ago (protected). So... should I be worried? Is there supposed to be a secretion to make the test for Herpes I & II? I'm really worried...
