STD From Sex Worker

Doctor, yesterday I had a encounter with a sex worker.  She was giving me a hand job with ky jelly or something like that then she was touching herself with her other hand.  She immediately switched hands and started giving me a hand job with the hand she was just touching herself with.  This happened for about 5 or 10 seconds and then I stopped her because I was concerned that she could transmit something like herpes to my penis.

After that, I put on a condom and she just barely sucked the top of my penis with a condom on.  I made sure nothing that was exposed by the condom made contact with her mouth.

After that she continued to give me a hand job with the condom on until I finished.

I am concerned I may have obtained a STD from her like herpes.  Assuming she has active legions, what are the chances that I got something from the hand job without a condom or from the oral sex with a condom?  Thank you for your comments and explanation.

Thanks for your comments.  If there was an active infection of any STI, would the chances of transfer of infection via her hands increase or no?

No, dark spots are not a sign of past HSV outbreaks. No change in my opinion or advice.  EWH

Thanks for your comments Doctor, I really appreciate it.

I don't mean to question everything but I noticed that the girl had dark spots around her vagina and I wasn't sure if that was an indicator of a recent herpes infection or not.  Is it?  Does this not have much bearing on the risk of transmission or does this change the dynamics of the situation?

No change in my advice.  No need for testing.  EWH

Also, I made sure there was no more kissing or touching than what was described above.

I kept my pants  on except for the part of having my penis exposed during the activities mentioned above.

Welcome back to the Forum.  The event you describe was no risk for herpes or any other STI.  You do not know that your partner had and infection and even if she did, even most unprotected exposures do not lead to infection.  In your case your exposure was condom protected and the activities you describe are essentially no risk for infection.  STIs are not transmitted from person to person by the transfer of genital secretions from one person’s genitals to another on the hands, fingers or inanimate objects.  There are a number of reasons for this including that the organisms lose viability on exposure to the environment and that the transfer process mechanically transfers far fewer organisms than are present in the genital sites.  there is no reason for concern about acquiring an STI through the sorts of activities you describe and there is no medical need for testing.  In particularly, there is no need for HSV blood tests.  The more you test, the more likely you are to have a false positive test.

I hope this comment is helpful to you.  EWH

Also, how long should I wait before I take a herpes test to know for sure if I got herpes?  I had one not too long ago and I have not had any encounters until this one so I know I was clear before.
